  • Comments: A nice break-in shave this morning. The small weepers were no doubt due to a new blade.
  • Feeling okay after my surgery. The procedure lasted about 1.5 hours My right leg is still stiff and sore, but I am able to get around the house with crutches, or a cane.

Cleanup:
  • Rinsed & dried face
  • Witch Hazel (Dickinsons) f/b buffing
  • A/S Aqua Velva Blue f/b buffing
  • Omega Alum stick
  • Dr. Teals

Morning shave - 3/29/24
Razor: Parker SoloEdge
Blade: Treet Platinum (half) (2)
Soap: BSS #1
Brush: RazoRock Hive 24
Aftershave: Lustray Blue Spice
Rating: 9.5/10, BBS
Another fantastic shave by the SoloEdge. However, I was getting a bit exuberant and caused myself a bit of skin tightness and a few weepers. Still a very comfortable shave with a great shave outcome.

Pre Shave: Warm Shower, Stirling Baker Street Liquid Bath Soap, Stirling Unscented Pre Shave Soap
Razor: Aluminum Karve Overlander
Blade: Perma-Sharp (4)
Soap/Cream: Stirling Sandalwood
Bowl: The CaYuen Workshop Medium Damascus Shaving Dish
Brush: AP Shave Co Disco Handle 25mm Muhle STF XL Knot
Post Shave: Cold Water Rinse, Thayers Unscented Witch Hazel, Nivea Unscented Post Shave Balm & TOBS Sandalwood AS
Rating: 10/10 A comfortable efficient 3 pass BBS shave with no touch ups, weepers, cuts or irritation. An outstanding shave!

Space Week - and how do we bend space? MELANGE.....
Sixth use on the Feather Light blade and it's just amazing. I'm glad I found a use for these blades as they do not fit into any of my AC Razors. Remainder of the ingredients resulted in a very Aromatic shave.

Wilkinson Sword Empire Razor
Feather Pro Light Blade (6X)
Olive Wood Handle Pure Badger
Barrister & Mann Melange Sample
Varon Dandy Spritz

Friday morning shave rated (9.75/10) using:
  • Razor: Birth year 1961 G2 Gillette Superspeed expertly replated by Back Roads Gold
  • Blade: Early 1960’s Comet Super Stainless made by Okava Enterprises in its short-lived Irish factory (2)
  • Brush: Razorock 400 Silver Noir Plissoft (my favorite)
  • Pre-shave: Noxzema
  • Soap: Dutch Kox Bergamot
  • Post shave: Thayer’s unscented Witch Hazel followed by Old Spice splash and Stirling Spice balm
PXL_20240329_141349034.jpg
Today’s shave was essentially equivalent to Wednesday's 9.75 and for the same reasons; with just a slight deduction on efficiency for having to work a bit on the touch ups. Close, comfortable, and irritation free. I always enjoy a Superspeed and this birth year version is a favorite and has been beautifully replated by Back Roads Gold. The soap is hanging on and continues to provide excellent performance (thank you so much @Guido75).

My shave scoring log is found HERE.

Happy shaves everyone :badger:

SE SOTD, Friday, March 29th 2024.
Razor : Yaqi Romulus SE 316 SSP with a Yaqi Chippendale 316SSP handle. Mfg 2023>, mild to mid range depending on blades used or gap spacer used. Small head parts when assembling seem to be easier working on a wash incase of dropping them is what I have discovered and recommend. The combination of handle and head produces nice close comfortable shaves mostly. Has a close comfortable shave this morning.
Blade : Kai Captain titian mild, sharp and smooth with great longevity.
Soap : Razorock Santa Maria del Fiore, nice Vanilla and light tobacco scent with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "Deep Stones" 24mm synthetic boss knot. Excellent lather generator, luxury cloud like soft tips, gentle scrubber + excellent lather generator.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock Santa Maria del Fiore with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless) .
Results : Dial 9.5.jpg or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + 1 blemish weeper=:a17: Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Yaqi Romulus SE 316 SSP razor with a Kai Captain titian mild blade.

Notes
The bitter, herbal Special Reserve seems appropriate for Good Friday. A very happy shave, however, despite the penitential occasion. The Dura-Sharp keeps chugging along with smooth shaves, no real sign of drop off so far. And the first use of the RazoRock “What the Puck” hard soap left me quite impressed. Generous lather, remarkably slick, and fine post-shave feel. I’ll give it a run and see how it performs over a few days. But considering I bought six 3.5 oz pucks of this triple-milled soap for $25, right now it’s looking like an unbelievable deal.
