Blade: Gillette Perma-Sharp (2)
Post shave: Gillette Gel
Rating: 9.5/10

First, thanks to all of you who wished me well after I announced I'd contracted COVID after attending a family wedding last weekend. I think the worst of it has passed. I'm taking Paxlovid and some other things and am feeling a little better, so much so I wanted to shave this morning after missing yesterday.
I figured one of my favorite razors paired with one of my favorite blades and a soap I love would result in an excellent shave. And I was correct.

Glad to see you are feeling better. Can't beat those J&C Brushes for quality and value. I've had one for years as a travel brush.

KERBY HOTEL SHAVE

Two Days Whiskers

PRE-SHAVE: Hot Shower

SOAP: Lea Stick (SP)

BRUSH: Omega 637 Silvertip 23 mm (IT)

SR: Kirby Beard & CO. SCL (FR) -

This Scalloped vintage razor art déco in style was produced in 1936. In spite of having a big mouth somehow agressive and a scalloped top cap it is quiet smooth and inoffensive. A mild good Shaver.

BLADE: Wizamet Iridium Super Extra Stainless (RU) - 1st shave. Excellent performance.

POST-SHAVE:

- The Barber Professional Allume di Rocca Stick (IT) - mild feedback over the first couple of minutes

- Lierac Baume Après Rasage (FR):

Good stuff.

- Eucris, GFT, Eau de Parfum: absolutely gorgeous mythical scent.

THE SHAVE:

Not perfect in terms of finishing, but deserving a 9/10 from the point of view of relaxation and smoothness.

1st Pass: All WTG.

2nd Pass: XTG from East to West on Face . ATG on Neck.

3rd Pass: All ATG except on Mustache and Chin Areas where I went XTG from West to East.

Touch-Ups: Some XTG blade-buffing on Neck.

This AM's shave, where the Major does it old school.

Phoenix Shaving Accoutrements Prickly Pear Mentholated Preshave Soap used as pre-shower face wash + pre-shave
Warm shower
Barbasol 1917 shaving cream
Gillette Old Yype
Personna Platinum blade (2nd use)
Zingari Man Unscented Recovery Splash

7.5/10. A close shave, but the Major needs to dock points for 2 cuts around his Adam's Apple.

Today’s shave…..
Gillette made in England fat handle Tech
KAI blade
SV Cubebe soap and after shave
Omega mini boar….gets better every time it’s used.
Took my time today. Whisked up a lather in the steel bowl and painted on a good layer, then a first pass of mixed WTG and ATG. Absolutely love this razor and blade combination, a joy to use…smooth , close, very nice indeed.
2nd pass all ATG. Again took my time and focussed on the tricky neck parts.
Excellent shave indeed. Super smooth finish and no burn, weepers or nicks. Love ye olde English Tech, it’s a brilliant piece of vintage shaving gear.
A 10/10

Razor: Enders Speed Razor + Hendrix Classics & Co 'Regular' Adapter
Blade: Schick Proline B (5 shaves, 11 passes)
Brush: Rudy Vey Irish Bog Oak (Mühle 25mm STF)
Bowl: Captain's Choice Copper
Lather: Taconic Shave Cream Bay Rum
Aftershave: Clubman Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum

Shave 5 with this week's kit. The Enders/Hendrix/Proline combination provided a nice 2-Pass CCS++ shave. I like the Enders/Hendrix razor and will continue to use it occasionally.

A bright Saturday morning after a week or rain. Out for a walk before writing this up - sometimes the river is at the bottom of the field, but this morning the field was at the bottom of the river (in addition to the razors I have a collection of vintage jokes).

Modern current production stuff today, though (except the soap, by a year or so) :

Thiers Issard "Dreadnought" 7/8 hook nose straight razor
Simpson Duke 3 Synthetic Bristle brush
Mitchell's Wool Fat (tallow)
Denim Original aftershave

Yep. Nice. And still feeling just-shaved-smooth after getting outside for a bit. I'm often surprised by how well synthetic brushes take to The Fat - there's something about it that suggests natural fibres, but synths often get stuck in with more enthusiasm. Denim Original is the current take on a classic, and a good one.

I'm going to say "10" today.
