'The Veg Day Wednesday' Shave 20200729
20200729_071308~2.jpg

Razor: Colonial General v2 :001_wub: (Timeless TRH6 Ti Handle)
Blade: Schick Proline (4)
Brush: @Rudy Vey B&B 2020 Contributors Handle (BOSS v1 24mm Knot)
Soap: Haslinger Ringelblumen
Post-shave: Hyaluronic Acid
Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman Lilac Vegetal

WTG, ATG & XTG. Minor touch-up.

DFS++ (really close to BBS) with no nicks, cuts, weepers or irritation.

The Colonial General v2/Schick Proline combination is as smooth and effective as it gets. I mean smooooooth. Comfortable, close, efficient. Really like the combination. 👍

The BOSS v1 knot (that I put in the gorgeous @Rudy Vey B&B 2020 Contributors Handle) does not get sufficient mention. This is a really good synthetic knot - especially for face lathering. 👍

Haslinger soaps are ridiculously good for the money, and on an absolute basis. Not temperamental at all - they just perform. 👍

Can't forget, Wednesday is 'The Veg Day'. :001_wub:

Love The Veg and The Veg will love you. :)

Great Wednesday shave! :)

Thu. morning shave
Razor: Gillette 195 Adjustable G2 1961
Blade: Shark Super Chrome (1)
Brush: Simpsons Emperor 3 Silvertip
Lather: Simpsons Luxury Shaving Cream
Post: Thayers WH

Rating 8/10. 1 nick on neck

First shave with an esteemed Fatboy, set on #3 it started as enjoyable shave, but I found Shark blade was stubborn in cutting through more difficult stubble, so it was dumped after 2 passes. Patience would have adjusted technique to match the blade, but I was in a rush this morning. Lathering experience of emperor top notch

Today I tried a new soap and a new bowl. I found my scuttle to be too narrow so was looking to buy something. Then found a Stainless bowl in the kitchen with some waves with the perfect size. Exactly what I needed. Way too much lather thought.
Razor : Supply single edge v2
Blade : Ted pella personna (7)
Brush : Fendrihan tuxedo synth 24mm
PS : Col conk original oil
Soap : Reef point soaps : Test depth
AS : Thayers and Proraso red sandalwood
10/10 no irritation at all. Too bad that soap company closed in 2018, would have been a customer.

  • Not the closest shave, but it met my expectations for this razor on a one-pass shave. Thus the second 9.8 score in a row (along with the below)
  • I got my trouble spots nicely
  • No nicks!
  • No irritation!
  • Brush is still breaking in, but every time I use it, I love it even more
  • I now feel comfortable with an SR on my WTG strokes. I need to work on my AGT and XTG strokes and holding method

King C Gillette - Feather (5) - TOBS Grapefruit cream - Razorock Snowman - Razorock Blue Barbershop Aftershave Splash.

The Feather is on the way out but it did ok for this shave. The Blue Barbershop splash is a refreshing way to finish a day and pairs well with the Grapefruit cream. The star of this one was the Snowman for me. 9/10.

Wednesday Evening SOTD
  • Pre: Hot shower, TOBS Jermyn St. Pre-Shave Gel
  • Razor: Merkur 34G
  • Blade: Astra SP (1)
  • Brush: Suavecito Synthetic 20mm
  • Shaving Soap: Cella Extra Extra Bio
  • Bowl: Captain’s Choice Gunmetal
  • Post: Cold water rinse & Gentleman Jon Alum Block
  • Aftershave: Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood
  • Score: 8.5/10
    • WTG, XTG, ATG w/ touch ups
    • BBS w/ three nicks (two of them from random bumps on my chin and neck 🙄)
    • No irritation
Well this was MUCH better than Sunday nights shave. After 3 days of growth and being away because of work I was itching to get a shave back in. I came out with three nicks, two of which were because the razor ran over these weird skin bumps I randomly got over the last few days. Luckily there wasn’t any irritation this time around and I concentrated more on my technique and taking my time. I still can’t get over how much I LOVE Cella. Also went back to the Ogallala aftershave and I’ve missed the super soft feeling it leaves on my face. All in all it was a great way to end the evening.

Razor: Gillette ball end Tech, nickel plated, with diamond Gillette logo on top cap, 1957
Blade: Feather Hi Stainless (4)
Brush: RazoRock Barber 24 synthetic
Soap: Cella, red tub
Rating: 9.1

Afternoon shave on nearly two days of growth. BBS/near BBS after a WTG/XTG/ATG shave with extensive buffing needed. No nicks, lots of tugging and pulling everywhere, and some razor burn afterwards. I will try one more shave from this blade, but I think it's history and needs to be replaced

Gem MMOC
Gem Personna PTFE Blade (2)
Schick Injector Type E1 (5, I think)
Murphy and McNeil Trilogy
Post: Trumpers Lime Skin Food and Cetaphil lotion
Rating: 9/10

So I went at this differently today. I hand stroped the Gem Personna PTFE blade, since I didn't have a cork or styrofoam cup. I did one pass with the Gem MMOC with a major change to my technique. Cheeks and neck were fine but the curves are difficult.

For the second pass I used the injector. What a great razor this has become. Cleaned it all up to DFS++.

No weepers, no cuts.

I hope the Gem comes along as quickly as the injector but that blade is wicked sharp. Getting a cork on Friday.

My face feels so good.
