Thursday Shave

Pre-shave: Shower/tap hot washcloth/PAA The Cube
Razor: Gillette G1 195
Blade: Perma-Sharp
Brush: Custom Green Dymondwood 20mm Badger
Soap: The Holy Black
Bowl/Mug: 3D Printed bowl
Post Shave: PAA Mysterium Serum
AS: The Holy Black

Late posting.. back in Auburn for my folks dog's chemo
I keep gravitating back to the 195.
Started the shave by wetting my face with a tap warm washcloth and rubbing The Cube on, and then in, while that beautiful brush soaked in my dad's Old Spice Mug, and loaded a new Perma-Sharp blade and set the dial on 5.
Since it's the 21st, I had to use soap #21, which is The Holy Black. Has a light barbershopish scent, as does the AS. After the brush had soaked for about 5 minutes, I loaded it for 10 seconds, and started making the lather. added a little water until it just exploded...
Applied the lather to my face and and did a 3 pass shave with a 4th pass on my neck.
I have a spot on my right cheek that has started to weep when I go ATG, but it generally stops with my post shave wipe down. Think it's just a little bumpy there, and I can live with a few red dots during my shave for the BBS feel. They don't even scab over. Kinda strange, but as the skin ages, it starts to to weird things. Not gonna dock the shave much for something that minor.
Post shave feel was very smooth on 98% of my face. Had a touch of sandpaper feeling on my adam's apple. The hair grows in every direction there, so it is what it is.
Overall, a very good shave. DFS+

Razor: Yaqi Classic DLC, DE, CC
Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock Green (4)
Brush: RazoRock 24 Barrel Tuxedo

Soap: RazoRock Fresco

Post: Dickinson's Enhanced Witch Hazel
RED CEDAR Aftershave Splash

Two passes of smooth shaving to a smooth finish. The only problem was trying to get the blade aligned when installing it. I seem to remember having that problem with this razor before . However, I have to say that it was worth the effort.

8.5 BAS An acceptable shave with minimal stubble. However, a chip on one side of the blade caused a nasty chin nick. For tomorrow I am off to randomly pick and use the 1st of 164 blades.

Decided to use my Sticky this week and pair it with a Wilkinson Sword Blade as strangely enough, I'd never tried out the Sticky with a Wilkinson Sword blade as I'm not a massive fan of the blade. The main issue I had today was that this razor is VERY mild and the blade just wasn't sharp enough for it. It should be sharper on the 2nd shave, so I'll try again and see if it improves the shave but I might have to stick to BICs in the sticky which seem to pair up well with it.
I've also realised that the more I use this sample of T&H Sandalwood, the more I prefer the Saponificio Bignoli Indian Sandalwood sample!
Overall not a terrible shave, just not as close as I would like and some feedback from the alum (likely pressing too hard to compensate for a duller blade)

Thursday's Shave.

shave 20210121.jpg

Razor: RazoRock Lupo 0.95-SB
Blade: Feather (3 and retired)
Brush: RazoRock 24 Barrel Silvertip
Bowl: Captain's Choice Copper
Lather: Vitos Extra Super Coco
Aftershave: Bootlegger's Bay Rum

Three passes + touch-up. No nicks, cuts, weepers or irritation.

I use a steep angle with the 0.95-SB. Seems to offer the best combination of smoothness and efficiency.

Very nice shave!
