What brush am I looking for?

I've decided that with my advancement through the ranks of wetshaving, I want to upgrade to a Silver Tip.

I'm not too knowledgeable about the different types of brushes and all the different brands. So, I was wondering if you gents could point me in the direction of a brush that suits my needs.

The things I wanted out of it were for it to be fairly small as I have a small head and face thus do not need a brush that will splay out and get lather all over my face; A stubby handle so my fairly small hands can grip it in a claw like grasp; and I also didn't want to spend an obscene amount.

I'm sure there is one that fits all that but as I search around, I just get more overwhelmed and confused.

Thanks in advance.

Many opinions to follow, but you can't go wrong with Rooney, and in particular based on your criteria, a Style 1 - Size 1 (you'll see it referred to as 1/1). Small handle, short(ish) loft and plenty of soft, yet firm operation on your face. Here's a link to an all-around reputible dealer, Vintage Blades.

Good luck! :001_smile

I prefer Shavemac to Rooney because it is slightly less dense and works better for me. I also like the Edwin Jagger medium super badger, 21mm knot and just at 99mm tall. I have also been tempted by Simpson commodore x1, that has a 20mm knot and is 96mm tall.
