What are you listening to?

what was it about Gance that he didn't like a shorter movie? I went to see Napoleon when it was re-released in theaters with the Coppola score. Great movie, great widescreen effect, but boy, was that a day.

I love Gance. I have a 4.5 hour dvd of La Roue and just ordered a recently released 7 hour blu-ray from France. I'm a glutton for punishment when it comes to silent films. I have a bootleg of Napoleon with the Coppola score from around 1980. It think it runs 223 min. I liked the film and score, but Brownlow's 330 min definitive (PAL) version with the Davis score from a few years back was always my Holy Grail of silent films. I think Coppola owns the US rights, so Brownlow's version may never see a US release.
 
Russell Ferrante Trio

Russell is the founding member and keyboardist of the superb Grammy winning band Yellowjackets. The band has been around since 1978. This is his first solo recording. It's just beautiful.
