Probably a gin and tonic or two. I had a bottle of Nordes Atlantic Galician Gin delivered yesterday plus a crate of FT light tonics... Goes will with a bay leaf as garnish.
After the first sip, I thought, “I do like Eagle Rare better.” However, one sip does not do it justice! As I continue to sip this, I am enjoying a wonderful, lingering, corn sweetness. A quarter of an ounce at a tasting does not allow you to adequately judge a bourbon!
I had my first glass of High West boubon last evening and it was enjoyable. My expectations were not high, but I found it tasty. Tonight, Laphroaig Ten.
Trying to find a way to kill this rather pricey bottle which I and everyone to whom I have served a sample have found harsh. Unfortunately, despite a bigger Demarara cube, an additional shake from the Angostura bottle, a quarter bar spoon of Luxardo, and a longer zest of orange, this whiskey’s harshness comes charging through at the finish of my Friday Old Fashioned. Sazerac next time with an extra shake of Peychaud’s, a large cube, a long zest of lemon…
I got an early Christmas Present - a Flaviar "Advent Calendar" of whiskeys.
12/3 - Milk & Honey Elements Peated Single Malt from Israel - a nice, mild, lightly smoky dram
12/4 - Starward Two-Fold Australian Double Grain Whisky - malted barley and wheat aged in red wine barrels. Fruity and sweetish. Not bad after dinner.
Hard cider. Mom-in-law brought me two gallons of un-pasteurized cider from the hinterlands of Pennsylvania. They've been "maturing" in the garage for the last two weeks and are just about perfect.
