What silvertip did you pick up? I like sivertip better myself, but boar always worked for me. Maybe part of it was technique or not soaking your brush long enough before hand. Whatever the reason congrats on a brush that makes you happy!
In general the better badgers are slightly easier on creams but I can't say my Omega boars ever let me down on any cream.
How long did you use your boar before replacing it (or better; is it broken in properly before you gave it up)?

I used it for about a year. I found the Omega to be dense, but very slow to lather

It is a Classic, Silver Tip. (faux horn)
Had the same experience. I'll never use boar or lower end badger brushes again!
Another person here who has had the same experience. I shaved with a boar for about 5 years before purchasing a badger. What a difference indeed!

I don't know how mine compares to a $300 brush, but I don't see much room for improvment!
Keep that thought to yourself please. We have too many experts here who know spending money for a better brush is money down the drain.
I enjoy both badger and boar. They meet different objectives for me.
I've put some time into my worst boar recently and it suddenly shot up into the middle of the pack. Comparing a boar before it's truly broken does not do justice to the potential of the brush.
An SOC with Cella and a Simpsons Persian Jar 3 with CF Lime... those are two distinctly unique but extraordinary experiences. I wouldn't give up either.
It not an Either/Or... it's a Both/And for me.
