What's new

Well that was easy.

I've been wanting to get into brush restoration so I went ahead and purchased a whole bunch of vintage brushes. One of them is an Ever-Ready 836A. To my surprise the knot came right off with a firm twist:

Nice!!!

Reminds me of a time I rented a tile-scraping machine to get all the linoleum tiles up off my floors. I got out a scraper to remove enough to get the machine started and "click"---popped right off. Got every tile off with without so much as turning the machine on (but had to pay the rental anyway!). You never know...

Yeah. Not typical! That's a neat handle. What's the plan for the knot?

True, it is not typical, but when you get one of those rare ones that the epoxy center shrunk like that it does make your day.

Enjoy the process and yes, we are waiting on the knot selection!

Well first I will be installing a cylindrical neodymium magnet inside the handle towards the bottom so I can hang/place on a metal bar or plate glued to a bottom of a shelf. No need for stands.

It'll be a while before I set the knot but I don't intend to bore the hole any bigger. A 20mm knot from TGN or Whipped Dog will do. My preference is for a smaller knot with good backbone (hate floppy brushes) and soft tips. So maybe a silvertip badger set a little deeper.

I am also considering attaching a self locking nylon bolt to the knot and setting a matching nut into the handle to allow for the knot to be adjusted up/down. Once I have all the handles (I have 5 I want to restore) prepped, I'll start thinking about the knot.
