Well, how did I do? Ebay and New De Luxe content

I finally won something on Ebay. Did I do well?

The description says the razor is gold but I can't tell by the pictures. It kind of looks silver but maybe that's just plate loss. I placed a bid 2 hrs before the auction ended and was surprised when I woke up this morning and saw that I actually finally won an auction. One slight corner tooth bent but shouldn't affect the shave.

Not a bad price for a gold Criterion or Belmont in good condition.
Seller's lighting conditions are not ideal for showing true colors, so it's washed out to looking silvery.
The case is for a Bostonian, and that one it's hard to see if it's gold or not.

Aha , you got it! Cool. I just shaved with mine with a Crystal blade. Wow, wow, wow! What a close shave. 2 passes and I was a very happy camper indeed! Enjoy that beauty.

I was originally looking at this one (a gold New Standard I think), which I thought would go for way less since it's actually missing a corner tooth, and then it goes for $90 without a case. I couldn't believe it. Then I thought there would be no way I would win the one I did since it has all its teeth plus a pretty nice case. I'll be sure to follow up with pictures once it arrives.

Maybe this will require a separate thread but, can I use the baking soda trick with this razor or is that out the window because it's gold and not silver?

Scrubbing bubbles with a toothbrush and a lite polish with MAAS

Be careful polishing this razor. It's gold plated, and it was lacquered by Gillette. It looks like it needs some TLC, but that may be the lacquer having aged. If you get too aggressive, you can easily polish the gold right off.

Looks like a good deal to me, Interior May need some touch up, and Razor is in Decent shape, and for that price, You did good )
