Weird Hobby?

So, my wife is a paper-crafter. Think scrapbooking, but she doesn't do scrapbooks. She makes greeting cards and other paper whimsey stuff. Very talented, and she has fun with it. So much so, that I think she could likely make it a full time job.

Her craft room is most of the basement. It's mind-boggling how much 'stuff' she has! Our daughters love it too, so I am okay with it all.

We took a road trip about a month ago because a company near us was having a warehouse sale. So, we went. And, like a good husband, I stood behind her, holding a box full of paper and other 'goodies' while she loaded it up.

Fast forward to this week. I've been ordering some vintage brushes off of the 'bay to restore. She was wondering about all the packages I've been receiving...

She laughed and shook her head when I showed her the brushes. She thought I was goofy for having a "weird" hobby. All the razor and brush collecting, the soaps and creams and what-not. I asked her about her paper crafting...she was pretty much quiet after that!

I think she's accepted my "weird" hobby now!

The more she enjoys her hobbies, the less likely she is to rag on yours.

I need to get my wife to get a hobby, a really strange one... Like maybe badger breeding or something. Sorry- Off topic, but Johnny Dale, your avatar pic is sweet, that is a GREAT album.

Just tell her compared to some hobbies razor collecting is normal. I've heard stories of guys that even collect pens. Think how useful that could be for signing all those cards.

I always remind her of the more expensive hobbies that I have or could have. Although, that statement is starting to wear thin since I started honing.

This is exactly what my father and brother in law think of my hobby. I say they are weird for continuing to use a nasty old electric razor and weeks old cartridges. To each his own I guess.

Was there a pun in that last sentence?

At least I'm not drinking to excess and chasing loose women!

Lol no pun. My other other hobby is firearms, which I've seriously neglected since being turned on to straights. I was referring to the fact that I'm not into cars or golf. Even if I was inclined, I don't think I could muster the energy for the hobby you speak of. I've already checked that box and moved on.

My wife has many projects from many different types of crafts, paper, stained glass, jewelry, and wine bottle art. She has been surprisingly laid back about my growing collection, only the occasional eye-roll and "seriously! you have a problem!"

I have found that finding common ground and tools that will help her crafting and my restoration AD makes a great combination.
