What's new

Weekend finds

Stopped at a place yesterday and found these. I probably actually paid for one razor and got all of them. None but the Travel Tech are collector grade, but they are straight and complete and I can shave with all of them if I choose to. The old has 1 small crack, but is pretty solid. The Tech will clean up OK. The Super Speed is user grade, but shaves well. I know this because I shaved with it this morning. :biggrin1:

stealing the words from a fellow member "the Nashville area is a shaving wasteland"

no brick and MOrtar shops, no nothing.

it's still nice to see what people find out there.

It's the same here for things like soap and cream, blades, brushes, etc. There just seems to not be a lot of interest in wet shaving. It's a university town too. Apparently they haven't read all of the stuff on the Art of Manliness site. I've thought about trying to have a few things in a friends shop in town on consignment or shares, but I'm not sure that anyone would buy. Walmart is the only local source.:thumbdown In a way it's good because it makes the things you find cheap to buy. But it also means going online for any type of supplies.

These wouldn't have been from Ridgefield IL near Crystal Lake?
I'm asking because one of the shops out there had an Old Type with it's lower plate replaced with a bit of brass bar stock.

These were 5 or so hours from Chicago. On the other side of the state. I've heard of Merz though and plan on getting there if I have a chance. This one has it's original lower plate. It's funny you should say that though. I got an Old Type lower plate with another razor I traded some junk for. It was in the case with the razor, and the other razor wasn't even a Gillette.

I was just wondering if the gal that I got my combined set from had gotten a restock, nice haul on all the gear though.
What year was that Super Speed? obviously anywhere from late 40's to mid 50's.
Merz does have an internet presence at smallflower.com if that would be easier.
