Pendleton Shirt, lucky find or "counterfeit"

Howdy folks,

I stumble on those 2 shirts at the local thrift store last Sunday and decided to gamble on them. A quick search at the store said those were 80's shirts but they appeared to be completely unworn what so ever and both actually sports the crease of them being folded neatly making me doubt those were the real deal on the spot. For $16 all in I decided to take a gamble on them and I am still wondering real or fake ?

What do you guys think ? Did I got fleeced ? I grew on the over side of the pond and those type of shirts are just an unknown quantity.

As for the shirt, definitely scratchy like my wool sweater would have been back in the 80's for sure.

The fabric is actually thin.

they both only have 2 labels, the one Made in America in the collar and a small dry clean one at the bottom of the shirt.

Also only the green shirt has writing behind the collar label.

They look good to me, nice score! The material is often thin.
A couple of mine have two collar labels -- there seem to be many different vintage labels.
None of mine have any markings under the label (all 6 made in USA)
Sadly, some moths have eaten small holes in my favorite Black Watch plaid and a pure black. :cursing:

I'd say you did well, congrats. If they are knockoffs, they're good ones.

Here's a label that looks close to yours:

Not USA?

Not something pleasant to focus on, but I would not be surprised if they are unworn. That they were unworn because the owner was saving them for a good occasion to break them out, and eventually forgot about them, or put on a few pounds, moved on to another style. Years when by and now his family members are left with donating them.

Nice shirts, I hope you get lots of comfortable wear out of them.

I love Pendleton shirts and jackets. Got one shirt I wear often that was made 3 years before I was born….63 years old and still going strong….the shirt that is!

The label on the green shirt looks very much like the one on a Pendleton I have. Apparently you can tell by the label style what period they were made in, but I forget now which labels date from which years. They're very nice shirts, comparable to the Swanndri ones when they were still made in New Zealand.

Turns out those are clearly note winter shirt, as they do not keep me warm at all inside my place which is overing at 70. The wool is definitely scratchy

Pendleton Shirts were very popular in 1960’s, think The Beach Boys made very popular.

I thought you were joking.
