What's new

wawa convience stores

Here in central Jersey I have access to WaWa convenience stores which are among the best of it's class on my opinion. Hands down beats Quick Check I must say. Anything else like them outside of their operating territory, what's the best convience store to you.

I'm not sure really what would entail a good convenience store vs. a bad one, they're all pretty much the same aren't they? Some are bigger and have a larger selection of products, but I can't say I do much shopping at the convenience store, that would get very expensive.

I usually go to Husky since they sell 90 octane gas as their regular vs. 87 elsewhere. Whether that makes any actual difference is beyond me, but it seems fancy lol.

I like the fact that if you need to use there ATM's they don't charge you a surcharge. At least they didn't used to, haven't been to one in a while since the only thing around here are Royal Farms.

Don't they always charge you unless it is an ATM for your particular bank? I thought that if you take money out from another bank's ATM, they'll charge you a fee, they have some generic ATM's that charge a fee.

I remember once I used the ATM at a strip club and it charged $5.00 to take out cash!

Usually all ATM's except for your banks will charge you a surcharge. But the ATM's at Wawa's wouldn't. I don't know if they have changed this or not maybe someone who has used there ATM recently can answer this but whenever we needed money up in Philly we would go to the local Wawa and use there because they had no surcharge.

I grew up with 7-11, and though they may have been one of the originals, I think they have become a shadow of their former selves. I lived for time in Oklahoma, and have to say that the QT, or Quick Trip chain knows how to treat a customer. I spent many a early morning getting a fresh brewed coffee on the way to school, and it was always good. I don't know about other parts of the country, but when I came back to California, the old 7-11's just couldn't hold a candle to Quick Trip.

Man, we must be somewhat backwards in Wisconsin (Don't say it, Richard!), because we have Kwik Trips. Weird.

When I lived in LA I'd prefer hitting up the Circle K, if only for the Bill and Ted's reference. This was especially true if I found myself near San Dimas.

When I lived in Boston, it was Store 24 or nothing at all.

Now that I'm back in NY and without a car, I do my convenience shopping at one of the many bodegas within walking distance to me. As the neighborhood gets nicer, the bodegas really step it up and try to out do the others. One is on it's way to becoming a mini Whole Foods.

Used to be Stop & Go, until DS bought them out and closed them.

Valero is the most convenient at the moment, best price on smokes, too, but a new Quick Trip is going in. We'll see.

Wawa keeps a tight clean ship. How many 7-11 you know of have a public bathroom. The difference is they are corporate owned, not privately owned. The corproation sees to it, rather than leave it up to a lazy, and cheap owner to do maintenance.

When I lived in PA, I lived in walking distance from my dorm to Wawa. No charge from the ATM machine no matter who you bank with.

I especially liked the sandwiches they made at 2 in the morning coming back from the bars.

You have obviously never been to a Wawa, my friend.

I used to cover a sales territory from Virginia up to New Jersey and pretty much lived out of Wawa's 2 or 3 days a week. Clean, omnipresent, fresh and healthy food choices, all nicely packaged for convenient eating while driving.
Then they put in the automatic milkshake machine with choice of thicknesses and my life was complete

Ahh Wawa vs Quick Check. Wawa has more of a selection, never had any of their sandwiches, but I do enjoy the pretzels they always have at the check out counter. I do like the Quick Check doesn't call them hoagies, well because they're subs. Guess that's just part of being from central jersey as opposed to south jersey. :biggrin1:

They are a hated and feared orginization in these parts like Walmart. People fight them when they want to come in because their operation is so good it destroys others including now gas stations. So far I see no other store like it in other parts of the country.
