This was my first strop and I love it. It was the only strop I had for about a year. I recently sold it because I have 5 other strops and have a bridle strop from Tony Miller. I had a 3 inch model with cotton webbing. It is a great strop with medium draw. A great strop IMO.

What you have to consider, however, is you can get a Tony Miller custom for the same price. The Walkin Horse is a fine strop but the finish work on the TM is far superior.

I have, and use, that strop. I love it. No other strop I've tried has the same density (not sure if that's the right term) to the hide. It's usually the first leather any blade I hone sees because the feedback from it is superb.
I have glitzier strops - and they have their charms, but the Walkin' Horse sees a LOT of action in my house. I would buy another in a heartbeat if I needed to.

i have 2 WH strops but neither is in horse, that said i like the ones i have alot. i have 3 horse strops they are my favorite leather for strops.

I picked up the WH horsebutt a couple of weeks ago and have been using it ever since. Very nice, all-around utility strop with a medium-fast draw. A bit thirsty, needing neatsfoot oil. One thing to bear in mind is that it is no longer lined or stamped as shown above. It is now just a bare piece of leather without markings. Some like it better like that I suppose.

I have this strop and it has a great light draw. The Superior Shave recently got some in with linen instead of cotton for the second component. I meant to get one but they sold out in a day or two. I'll watch the site to see when they come in again. I've tried several strops over the years and have settled on the WH and TM as my favorites. The WH does not have the workmanship of the TM but the light draw of horsebutt is its major plus. I wish TM would make a strop with horsehide.

I believe the new Walkin' Horse strops are shorter than what used to be sold. My two year old English Bridle (Walkin' Horse) is 19". I'd like to try their horse strop if it was 19" in length. Too bad you can't buy just the leather (in 19" length) from them (through a stockist), which has tempted me to try buying a length of leather from Star Shaving, just to see what they offer (quality wise)

Just measured my recently-acquired 2-1/2" piece. Distance between endcaps is 17-3/4". Not really an issue for me, though, as I only use around 12" of stropping length at a time.
