I just finished a Wade & Butcher Sheffield 7/8 with Cocobolo scales, finished in 15 layers of CA, brass pins and washers with a bulls-eye pivot pinning and a two step scale pinning. Wedge is made from faux ivory but is a little whiter than I like.
The blade was in poor condition when I received it and there had been some attempt to restore it one upon a time that resulted in a lot of metal removal by what looks to be buffer marks (rounding and flow) that took most of the makers mark off the tang. The jimps are in great shape as is the back 2/3 of the blade but the toe had to be left with significant pitting.
There was also lots of corrosion around the pivot pin and the blade sits a little crooked in the scales. I flipped the blade in the scales, I even mocked this razor up in a known true set of scales and it still sits s little off to the right allowing the blade to contact the scale. Two washers didn't change the tilt and further inspection shows material missing on the tang causing the off centered position. I know that I could fix it with some time on the belt sander but decided to let it be and deal with the centering instead of taking more metal off.
Your feedback and honest (but gentle) criticism is welcome.
