W is going on with shipping?

Apparently having a strong Aussie dollar isn't helping my online shopping experience anymore. Despite wanting to give WCS my business because they had everything I could possibly need, shipping on my $70 order turned out at $58. Seriously, you gotta be kidding me. I then do the usual thing and look online in Australia and while the cream/soap prices are getting better, how is it Clubman talc is 5x the price? $20 for talc, you've got to be kidding me. Tired of living at the *** end of the globe and getting shafted on prices! Anyone know any other decent vendors where I'm not going to be bent over on price or shipping?

WCS has one of the best conus shipping, sorry to hear that is not the case for you.

Try contacting them directly, maybe you can work out a coupon deal to help.

They have worked with me, no promises

I’m stumped
$58 shipping they must be using the top of the line shipping rate.
flick them a e-mail they may be able to help with a better rate if they value you as a customer or at least explain how come it is so high.
I would like to hear how they justify this cost myself. let us know get an answer.

have a look at http://connaughtshaving.com/index.html

Thanks cleanshaved, just had a look at connaught and got most of what I needed there, excellent shipping rates! The shipping rate from WCS was the cheapest international rate they had - can't understand why it is so much cheaper from an English place.

My guess is WCS adds insurance to their packages over a certain value (can't say for certain). I looked at doing this for a sale this week and it would have been $30 just to get a straight to Canada.

Hi Waistcoat. Our shipping rates are based on weight, not value, as that is how we're charged by the shipping services. We do not mark up shipping, we don't charge handling fees, and what you see is exactly what we are charged. We do not add insurance, instead choosing to self insure, as this keeps the costs down. Unfortunately, international rates escalate quickly with weight. However, we have occasionally found mistakes with weights on the site before. It's rare, but this sometimes happens due to rounding errors when many products are purchased at the same time. If we see this, we refund the difference. If you'd like us to verify the charges are accurate, just send us an email or give us a call. We're always happy to pack it up to get the final weight, even if you're not sure you want to place the order. [email protected] will get you the quickest answer from Lili or Kevin.

This is a real conundrum. And it goes both ways. I recently sent one cake of shave soap to England andcit cost $11.90 os so. Maybe a ten ounce box. Conversely I tried to order items from The Gentleman's Shop and anything over about a half kilo went way over twenty dollars in a hurry. I think much of this is simply political. It does not make good points at home if a foreign vendor can ship the same products at lower price and similar shipping charges. And the price differential beteeen products in their native lands and export nations always seems to suufer the same issues as the shipping. Tariffs are always pricey to protect domestic producers and vendors. Ridiculous but fact of life for most.

Cheers, Todd

Living in Korea I have the same problem. For US shipments once the package goes over a certain weight the shipping increases exponentially. So I checking the shipping cost change by adding one item at time and in different order. A time consuming exercise but it can save money. Sometimes shipping from Europe or an Asian destination is cheaper, the US has some of the highest shipping rates in the world.

I also check various vendors to check the all in price.

International shipping from USA to half way around the world is expensive. One more than one occasion I have mailed items through the US Postal Service (cheapest option) where the shipping cost more than the box's content. ...getting off topic but it does make one wonder about the logistics of shipping, I believe most international items sold at retail around the US (world) arrive in big container ships where physical volume determines the shipping cost, but when shipping individual packages back out it goes by air at a much higher cost.

I find Connaught has much better prices on soaps/creams as well at least when they are converted to US Dollars. However if you are looking for new razors Connaught mainly stocks the really expensive stainless steel versions. For blades I am finding Amazon sellers have some great prices.

My go to for shaving supplies is more often than not WCS. They consistently have about the best prices for the stuff that I need. They have a very fast CONUS shipping and exemplary customer satisfaction for my purchases. They don't mark their items up and try to bait you with a low purchase 'Free' (no such thing, anyway) shipping cost.
I try to spread it around with supporting vendors, but as long as WCS keeps their status quo with the way they conduct business, I will be a loyal customer......
BTW, If it is a PayPal transaction to Australia, PayPal pretty much dictates the shipping cost for seller protection....And sadly, I have heard often that a lot of items will probably end up in the homes of Customs Agents in places like Italy,Argentina,Mexico and others..Risky at best...(but that is just what I heard.)

Superior Shave lists the internationally shipped price right next to the CONUS price....very easy to see what you'll be charged.

same problem being in NZ....everything is 3x-5x US $$.......i think shipping is calculated based on zones...and we are at the end of the world...
