I was just playing a few of their videos on Youtube and reminding myself how great they were in their heyday. Canada's greatest export. I loved them because they had a unique and experimental sound, but still had the muscle to really thrash out and play fully satisfying metal.

I prefer their earlier stuff but this song from Angel Rat, Clouds In My House, is really great and strangely beautiful.

Love them. Have you heard Infini yet? Better than Katorz but not as good as Voivod. My favorite is Nothingface with Angel Rat a close second. Actually Nothingface is one of my favorite rock releases- a great mix of metal and prog. Their cover of Astonomy Domine is incredible.

The Canadian band I am listening to at the moment is called Protest the Hero, really good musicians too.

I was aiming mostly for people who like Metal, most of whom should know who they are; but no, the average Joe has probably never heard of them. But at least now you know what a Voivod is.

Yes, no doubt Voivod is much better to listen to than to look at. The main attraction for me was Denis "Piggy" D'Amour's fascinating guitar playing.

Huge VOIVOD fan here. Been into them the better part of 20 years now. The last album I have is NEGATRON. I just haven't gotten around to their newer stuff.. yet. My favorite is DIMENSION HATROSS. It's a nice bridge between their older thrash metal and the prog metal stuff that came later.

Yes. But before his ultimate demise, he laid down a bunch of guitar tracks for the rest of the band to finish. These tracks became Katorz and Infini.
