Visiting NYC next week for my honeymoon

I'll be in Manhattan next week for my honeymoon. Are there any brick and mortar shave shops around that I should check out? Any can't miss places to eat?

I was there nearly 2 weeks ago and was amazed by the number of shaving-tonsorial products they carry. I had to resist, but when I mentioned to one of the pharmacists that they are known worldwide on wetshaving sites B&B in particular, Leon, the manger and I sat and talked for nearly half an hour. THen we find out we're both of Ukrainian origin and know many of the same people. I live in Michigan but am originally from Brooklyn. Small world, Pasteur's is the place of pilgrimage for the wet-shaver be they novice or experienced. The range is amazing and worth the visit!

Trench,
I go to NYC for business every couple of weeks, sometimes more frequently. For the wet shaver, you MUST go to Pasteur's and do it your first day so that you can enjoy whatever you buy for the rest of the honeymoon.

As for places to eat, if you lived there for a year and ate out every night, you couldn't get to all the "can't miss" places they have. Tell us where you're staying and maybe we can direct you to someplace close to your hotel. That said, my favorite place to go is Novita on 22nd between Park and Lexington. It's brilliant Italian food, but what is most charming about it is the real NYC feel. It's small, very personal with a mixed crowd of locals and business and show people of all ages. The tables are very close together and about half the time I'm there end up meeting and enjoying the meal with the folks from the next table over. I recommend the black truffle pasta even if it's not on the menu...ask for it and they'll make it for you.

There are several places to avoid because they're legendary tourist traps. Nearly everything around Times Square...not everything, just nearly. I find almost all the steakhouses underwhelming in performance and grotesquely overpriced. There's a place downtown, don't remember the address, which is currently quite popular called Momofuku (sp?). Allegedly it's packed and hard to get into at night, but I went for lunch one day and it was nearly empty. For 14 dollars, I had the very best duck I'd ever eaten. You may want to check that out. They also have a separate business that sells fancy cookies which everyone but me raves about. If you're there, then make your own decision.

Congratulations on the marriage and enjoy the honeymoon. NYC is a great town.

Oh, and another thing. Google "traditional shave New York City" and see what you come up with. Lots of barbershops there that do traditional wet shaving.
