Vintage Yardley

I recently got a new puck maybe 2 times used, it still had the yardley stamp and still does after using it. I will have to say that yardley is a damn good soap. One of the best ive tried but the price point makes me not want it as much. what do you guys think? Does the pricepoint of yardley nowadays make you prefer different a soap now? Or do you make the effort (to find it in the first place lol) and pay the large some of money yardley is famous for ;D And sorry to the yardley lovers for the post hah

Heres a pic when i first got it.

I like vintage soaps but there are lots of good, current soaps out there! Some of these products may go toward hens' teeth rarity and premium price but that doesn't worry me a bit considering the alternatives.

Yardley was never my favorite, but I have a small collection of vintage soaps I like. I don't actively seek them out because I use them so rarely (Lack of scent and not noticeably superior to some soaps that are still available) that I'll never use up all of what I already have.

Is it worth the cost? Well, people pay $40-70 for bowls of MdC today, so there's certainly a group of people who wouldn't shy away at the cost of Yardley bowls... given that they are harder to get, truely limited, etc. In the end though, even the finest vintages don't stand apart in performance from a growing number of excellent soaps today (I could find a half dozen to a dozen soaps I'd just as soon use as any vintage), so I wouldn't pay the prices some do for these soaps.

agreed ^ although yardley produces a very fine lather. I think mikes shave soap has it in the bag for his category of best lather for best price... You could get 4-5 tins of mikes natural shave soaps for the price of one vintage yardley wooden bowl (which seems surprisingly small). All in all i probably wont sell it or anything cause i got a nice deal on it. But i probably wont purchase it again ;p
