vintage Yardley colognes

a wonderful score today -

multiple bottles of NIB Yardley cologne - "Cologne for Men" (white label) and classic "Black Label." I believe these are from the 1960s.

3.25 fluid ounces; the white label is a light floral - still thinking about it (SO likes it, kind of - "it's not like that awful Vetiver stuff [or K10, or 88, or Hammam...])"; the black label is lavender-icious. (That's from a bottle-sniff, not after application to my own personal self.)

Pretty neat. Also see:

Well done, Jon! I have a bottle of white label AS and it's retained much of its scent. I use it sparingly but what a kick! :001_cool:

I'm not a 'xpert on describing scents, Bill - how do you describe the white label AS?

I haven't found any descriptions of this on basenotes or anywhere else....

Hey Jon,

I'm no expert either, but my AS smells of soft lavender or maybe violet - not as sharp as say T&H lavender shave cream. I imagine it has lost some of its strength and was probably more pungent when new but it's definitely still there! Wonderful scent.

Enjoy your cologne!

nice score,

vintage yardley has been one of my favorite houses. wish it was still around.

i still have one of these aftershaves and it's still as good as it was 20 or so years ago! smells great and lasts all day.

Excellent, Yardley has always been among my favorites brands, particularly of lavender. It reminds me of my grandfather.

Al raz.
