What razors are you considering? I would put the following at the top of my list (in no particular order):
RFB 2 piece
RFB 3 piece
1934 Aristocrat
1936 Aristocrat

I can't speak of the superb shaves from any of the British-made Aristocrats because I haven't had the pleasure of using any.
I believe you are going to pay more for a top-shelf modern. My list in that category is short: Timeless Titanium .68 mild gap or the .95 gap more efficient gap. I recommend the safety bar version of the Timeless razor.
