Vintage Barbasol Brushless Shaving Cream

Picked this up this weekend. It was only a few bucks, I couldn't pass it up. Not really interested in using the stuff, but it's interesting for collecting on it's own.

I would try it just out of curiosity.

Welcome to the B&B!

Not all old stuff retains the original properties. Old tallow soap (hard soap), colognes and most after shaves I have no problem with using or at least trying. But creams in tubes, I'm just not going to bother. Judging by the ingredients, it sounds more like hand lotion.

Imagine the day though where that font on the tube for "For Modern Shaving" looked modern?

In it's day, Barbasol was touted as a cure all for the skin. Obviously they promoted it as more than just a shave cream. Keep us posted if you ever choose to experiment with it, I think there have been others who have tried the vintage stuff and lived so it might be worth a try. Nice find!

Very cool.

Insect bite prevention is definitely a first for me in a cream.

They say when cooking use only wine that is good enough to drink; or, if you wouldn't drink it you shouldn't cook with it. With creams I say if it can't go on my feet, it can't go on my face.

But that is seriously a cool find. I actually think that if the seal is unbroken on a metal tube, the product should be good for a while... I think.
