From first Gillette yesterday to peak Gillette today?

First shave with this after I couldn't resist any more and bought myself a present to celebrate Vintage/Adjustable April 😂

I played around through the settings quite a bit so it's hard to get a true impression, but I found it to be excellent through the mid-range. It's also just beautifully engineered - no wonder it cost 5 times more than than the 195. Absolutely superb shave this morning! Very impressed.

Razor: GEM Feather Weight V1 (12)
Blade: Personna GEM Coated (5)
Pre-Shave: Hot shower; Cereve Hydrating Facial Cleanser
Brush: RazoRock Plissoft Monster Synthetic Shaving Brush - 26mm
Lather: Van der Hagen Unscented Luxury
Aftershave: Cold water rinse

No nicks; No irritation; Close; smooth; A pleasant DFS shave. I stole this blade from the Sabre. I should have used a new one. This blade was pulling hard.

Cheers!!!

Sunday morning vintage April shave rated 9.75/10 using:
  • Razor: 1956 English Gillette Aristocrat De Luxe
  • Blade: 1970s Personna 74 (3)
  • Brush: Fendrihan synthetic
  • Pre-shave: Noxzema

  • Post shave: Thayer’s unscented Witch Hazel followed by Old Spice splash and Stirling Christmas Eve balm

The third shave with the Personna 74, this time in my beautiful, minty 1956 English Gillette Aristocrat De Luxe, was wonderful. The blade remains quite sharp as shown by a couple minor weepers and a very efficient two-pass+ shave to BBS. Love this razor and blade combo.

My shave scoring log is found HERE.

Happy shaves everyone :badger:

Dave, is this an original Schick colour? Or has it been revamped? Either way it looks absolutely amazing!!

Enjoy!

100% vintage razors, but still playing hooky too much...

Today, too many razors, doing a shave test of my honing of a pristine Cattaraugus SR:

Hey, it fits my face. Skin exposed to the weather, that's me, all right!

The Cattaraugus passed the test, but with a B, not an A.
