Versatile grinder?

Hello gents.

Is there such thing as a grinder versatile enough to make a french press grind and a Espresso grind (Seaco)?

I know there's a Breville that can do it, but I'm looking for more options.

From what I've read...

The main problem you run into is you want a stepless grinder for espresso with a very fine tuning, which means you need to do a lot of turning to dial it back for a press pot, and when you dial it back for espresso it can be hard to set it to that perfect spot again. It's annoying enough that most people seem to just get a second grinder. If you've already spent the money to get great espresso, it's a small thing.

Yep what Steve said.
The Baratza virtuoso is the closest you can get to what you want-It's in no way a perfect/great answer though.

So I'm better to get a cheap grinder for the press, and a better one for the espresso?

Get the espresso grinder you want, then see if you really need the other. Thing is, if you try to compromise and get something good for both, well.... you've been warned.

The road to espresso nirvana is littered with abandoned grinders. Don't skimp - you'll regret it. I speak from expensive experience.

Steve speaks the truth Cybrok.

I just got a LeLit for dedicated Espresso duty, and kept my Gaggia MDF for vac pot & Press duty.

The Gaggia will do a great job for a Press or a Syphon, but barely acceptable for Espresso.

A better option would possibly be the Rancillio Rocky, but for $100 more than the MDF. But I've no hands-on experience with that model, so to tell you anything would just be repeating what others have written.

End all do all, it's up to YOU to decide if you want 1 grinder, and deal with "acceptable" (or less, depending on your tastes and requirements) Espresso, or 2 grinders and have good service in several ways to brew coffee.

If you have any specific questions regarding an MDF, feel free to PM me.

EDIT TO ADD:

No affiliation with the company represented in the links, yadda yadda. Just a company I've used in the past with success.
