Had the chance to hit a few Walgreens Drug Stores in the last couple of weeks. Some have eliminated VDH entirely, some have switched to the badger brush and luxury soap and some still have the boar brush and deluxe version. Sadly I missed out on the clearance sale for those stores that were eliminating VDH or going upscale to the luxury version. Good news is when I finally need a new soap I can try the VDH luxury without having to order online.

If you liked the VDH Select or Deluxe, you'll LOVE the Luxury.
Yep Wal-greens are up grading but I just order off the Amazon because I get a better price and free shipping.
I'll have to swing my mine to see if they have any on clearance. I like the Deluxe stuff. I'm sure I would love the Luxury soap.

By the way the Wallgreens web site will tell you store locations and stock status for VDH products. None of the older WG's in my town carried the Luxury but the newest one did.
If you get the unscented Luxury you can 'play' with it.

Wait, so mainstream stores are seeing profitability on carrying high end shaving soaps now? Are we seeing a resurgence in safety edge shaving?
I've been out of the states for almost 5 years now...
I use the vdh unscented luxery soap to improve the performance of my TOBS Sandalwood. Just feels a little slicker that way.
Believe it or not the fresh-faced clerk at the checkout, he was in his 20's, asked me about soap, brushes and razors for wet shaving. I told him about B&B. Who knows, it may all come back in style. I'm still waiting for Nehru jackets and real mini-skirts to reappear. Never tried the VDH Select or the VDH Glycerin. The pink one is my everyday soap though lately I have modified it to VanDerArko. Arko alone was too drying to my skin.
I think slickness is one of the strngths of VDH Luxury, plus a great scent.
The fact that Walgreens and Target are putting quality wet shaving products on their shelves has to mean they see a market for it, so that can only be good for our little community. And if guys start seeing more such items they may be tempted to give it a shot and see what all the fuss is about. Maybe B&B could work out a deal with VDH to put a blurb about our web site on its packaging!
There are four Walgreens in our area, some have one thing and others dont. I suppose they are using up old stock and not reordering. Ive noticed them phasing out Pinaud Clubman, some have it, some dont, but had not noticed the VDH change. I have plenty of Deluxe in stock but will check it out on our outing today.
