US (Walmart) Personnas discontinued?

One of the reasons I switched back to DE shaving was potential cost savings. I have been lucky in that I have had great success with the US Personnas whereas I know many have not. And at a buck 76, they certainly were quite the value.

However the several local Walmarts in my area no longer have DE blades. Does anyone know if they've been discontinued? I guess in the interim I'll grab a sampler and try to find a new favorite bade.

Sounds like I may have just been to WM's that were out of stock. I'll have to keep an eye out for them to get restocked . I think I'll still go for the sampler anyway though to expand my horizons some.

Go to the Wal-Mart Web site and look them up, then check for the nearest store where they're available by plugging in your Zip code.

The store about a mile from here doesn't carry them. A "Super Store," with full food market about 6-7 miles from here does. That store is not on any of my other errand routes, so about $1.40 in gasoline cost, plus time, would have to be added to the $1.76 cost.

My most recent stock-up purchase was 100 Shark Super Stainless for $12.00 shipped. That kind of money would cover at best a trip to the Super Wal-Mart for about 60 blades, including gasoline.

And, the Sharks are a far better blade.

As always with blades, YMMV, including gas mileage for the trip to the store, depending on what vehicle you drive

Definately go with a sample pack, then buy in bulk when you find the blade you like. You may find a blade that blows the WM blades out of the water (happened to me, I HATED the WM blades.)

I tried a sampler a while back from a vendor that is no longer around. A few good blades and a bit of crap, which is why I went back to the WM's. Cheap and they work good for me. (I know, I'm the same guy that likes Williams )

In any event the wife sprung for a WCS sample yesterday, so we're gonna give it another go. So however it works out, I should be stocked for a while.

Not sure how about 18 cents per blade is considered cheap. Over half of all blades sold cost less than this including worldwide shipping in most cases.

Even if Wal-Mart were to stop carrying those US Personnas, they wouldn't go away. Many other stores carry those same blades under their house label.

My super wal-mart has them, but I've noticed they sell out of them quite often. I like them and they work for me.

I live right in between a Super Center and a regular store, either one a half-hour drive. Since they are this area's only place to shop, we are there for something else anyway a couple of times a month so I don't make a special trip.

I certainly don't consider .176 per blade too much to pay . . . especially when compared to cartridges! I get four or five good shaves from them - six if I'm lazy, cheap, or feel the need to use styptic. :w00t:

My son, in Tacoma, WA is a recent convert to DE . . . but his local Wal-mart doesn't carry them. A clerk there told him that they used to stock them, but don't any more.

Could it be due to low volume at a particular store?

I have seen them also locally at Walgreens, but they were pricey (I think it was 6 or 7 bucks a pack). Dollar General had them, but they've now switched to Dorco blades. We just got a CVS in the last week or so, so that may be another source.

I just figured that they work good for me (YMMV) and at .17 per blade for something that I could pick up while getting dog food, etc was a good deal. I'll still probably pick them up if I see them, but my WCS sampler should now keep me stocked for a while.

just bought some saturday. ive been eyeballing them for a while and decided to take the chance since ive had good luck with the other Personna DE blades. Glad i did. So far a nice shave.

Sense I started DE shaving, I have not seen any DE blades at my local walmarts. I think it is a regional issue.
