I have one that I use when I'm cleaning old razors. I think I got mine for around $25.00 USD. It works a treat for getting old gunk out of the nooks and crannies. New razors...I've never used it. I've used it for cleaning jewelry and eyeglasses, too.

I use mine similarly. Mine won't make a seriously gunked up old razor shiny and sparkly all over, but it will help in the process.

I have one but generally only use it on the chillibabe's jewellery and on used razors I get off the 'bay. it does a great job, it is 60w and I recommended it to anyone interested. I use hand dishwashing liquid, for really dirty jobs I'll use the stuff for the dishwasher.

Hi I just bought mine about 3 weeks ago, it was on offer but not quite as cheap as the current one your talking about, it looks like exactly the same model though.
Mine has Intertek on the label underneath and James products on the box, who I believe to be the actual manufactures.
In short I think it is brilliant, I'm an engineer and have used these (larger models different brand) at work for years and was sceptical as to how good these smaller tanks would be but I find myself now looking around the house for things to clean.
I've done several razors and find it great for cleaning injectors as two will hang perfectly in the watch rack keeping the handles clear, I did this prior to changing blades on the ones that don't open for cleaning.
Two slim adjustables came out fine and the black super adjustables stayed black although I did do these on a short 3min only cycle.
All the others I've done also had no problems including silver plate old types, Wilkinson empire and auto strop SE's. but I only plan on doing these very occasionally as there is no need to risk any more.
I just use four or five drops of washing up liquid as directed in the instructions. I have the fluid they make to go with it but I think that's a bit strong for the razors (used that to great effect on cycle gear levers and some old tools, you can actually see the old oil and stuff swirling out the joints!).
Oh! I also did all my old fountain pens ! the fun never ends:001_cool:.
Steve.

PS I'm not connected to the company that makes or sells these.

I got one last month from Harbor Freight It was on sale for $75 and I found a %20 off coupon. It's made by the same manufacturer as the Lyman brand.
What's nice about the model I got is that 2.5 Liters is big enough for 3-4 razors without them touching. It's also 160watts and has a heater you can turn on that will keep the water at about 130-140 degrees.

It seems to work great at loosing up grime but for really dirty or aged razors you probably will still have to do some Scrubbing Bubbles hand cleaning.
One good thing an Ultrasonic Cleaner might do that isn't easy doing by hand is cleaning out the inside of a handle on a TTO or inside the parts of a Adjustable razor. Yes you can do it by hand but dropping it into a basket of solution for a couple min and rinsing it after seems a lot easier to me.

What cleaning solution do you use for razors?

I have one and they are great at cleaning. Although let me hedge that a bit and say mine is more of a ultra-high shaker than a sonic cleaner. :001_smile Having used it I've found that the plastic case dissipates heat better thus not "cooking" the razor. My home made "jewelry" cleaner work great.
1) A drop of dish soap with a half spray of window cleaner and 170 degree water. Mix well and put into the Ultrasonic cleaner for half hour.

I can't comment on the all metal ultra sonics as I have no experience with them. But my Con Air $5 pick up at an estate sale has been wonderful. Also the plastic inside the case prevents the razors from being metal on metal contact. This low powered ultra sonic takes about two cycles to bring a really gunky razor to brilliance but it work great.
