Ultrasonic cleaner

Received a new 50watt ultrasonic cleaner yesterday. Used it to try and remove a slight film of soap scum off razors. Didn't work very well. Does anyone here get good results with one of these?

I bought one for some of my wife's jewelry and ended up using it on my Vision, Futur and Blue Tip. In all 3 cases, I lightly brushed the razors under warm water and then threw them in the UC (separately - too small a bucket to accommodate more than one) and they came out great.

These are so overrated I was shocked and infuriated. Nothing takes the place of elbow grease, microfiber cloths and Maas or Flix. As a pretreatment I made a thick paste of baking soda, water and a few drops or a cap full of ammonia and a soft toothbrush, followed by the polishing.

Point taken gentlemen. The idea of the ultrasonic cleaner was to avoid using a brush. Didn't want to scratch and scrub the chrome off some of my very nice razors. I did put some dish detergent in. The intention was good but the idea wasn't.

You should scrub as much of the soap scum from your razor as you can with a soft toothbrush before using the ultrasonic cleaner. UC's are better at removing the gunk from hard to reach places.

Did you use a cleaning solution?

i have an old Tech Ranger that never really quite cleaned up to my liking. I tried the scrubbing bubbles and the almost boiling water, followed up by a few runs in a cheap ultrasonic (with some soap but not Hagerty's). Then I polished it with Flitz. It cleaned up OK (and the ultrasonic really did help). but it still isn't shiny by any means. I looked at your link and I think I will try to that once more, from soup to nuts, to see if it helps. Just one question, is the 1941 Tech Ranger nickel or chrome plated? Any help is appreciated.
