Ultimate Bay Rum?

Ok, I just mixed Ogallala Bay Rum and Sandalwood 50% with Pinaud Virgin Island Bay Rum to make, what I find to be, the ultimate Bay Rum.
I love the Ogallala for the moisturizing properties and love the burn and scent of the Pinaud VIBR. This way, I get the scent, with great moisturizing and less burn.

Does anyone have experience mixing different aftershaves to make a great Bay Rum?
Thoughts? Comments?

Happy shaving!

I'm using Ogallala Double Strength cologne some days and Pineaud Bay Rum other days.
I find the Pineaud stings much more than the Ogallala, and their smells to be very different.
Of course one is a cologne and the other an aftershave.
Love both.

Don't trust myself to blend. Also much prefer single malt to blended whiskey.

I mix 50/50 Master and Pinaud. I haven't been able to track down a bottle of Superior 70 yet, but when I do, I'm going to mix in that too like Johnny B mentioned.

I've been using a mix of 1/3 masters,1/3 Virgin Island and 1/3 Superior 70. Makes a nice blend.

I call it Bootlegger's Bay Rum. Been doing it for years. And it smells absolutely fantastic! Long wearing, alot of product for little cash, feels great on the skin and the chicks dig it. At least mine does. Welcome to the club Johnny B. :)

PM me your address and I will PIF you a bottle of Superior 70. The stuff is dirt cheap.

I got the idea from you Rob,just couldnt remember who posted it. Thanks for the tip! Superior 70 is a special order from Walgreens in these parts, even Virgin Island is impossible to find. I'm thinking of trying it with Gabels, thats available from Amazon, along with Virgin Island. Luckily there is a Sallys about 20 miles away that stocks Masters.

I wouldnt dabble in mixing a bunch of ....stuff together. Buy Captains Choice and end your search. I don't mix any similiar products whether its aftershave, shave cream, or beer. If one product cant serve your needs then its not a good product. Of course YMMV;)

My mix is simple: one part Captain's Choice and another part Captain's Choice. The ultimate Bay Rum combo!

Well, your welcome for the tip my friend! I live in the greater OKC area, and there are a bunch of different Walgreens and they all carry something different. So I went to their website one day and started typing in different shaving items in their store find search box. So I go to two different Walgreens completely on opposite sides of the city to pick up Superior 70 and Pinauds Virgin Isle. I think one of the best things about mixing them is other than the awesome scent is the price you pay and the actual size of each bottle. You can get a 12 ounce bottle of Pinaud VI for $6 dollars and some change, 12 ounces of Superior 70 for $1.99, and a huge 15 oz bottle of Masters from Sally's for $9.

If you do the math, your getting 35 ounces of awesome Bay Rum for $18. That's probably a lifetime supply of Bay Rum for under twenty bucks that you can either use each indivdual brand seperately or mix and experience the wonderful scent from blending all three of them together. Make sure you store the mix in a glass aftershave/cologne bottle. Makes it even better.

I have become a Bay Rum fan but I do only some minor modifications:
I like Ogallala but I combine 50% original with 50% Sandlewood
Captain's Choice: Great stuff - I just add a little high proof rum as I like just a bit more burn
Pinaud so far stands alone

I have gained some interesting information from this thread, and thanks guys for it. I am going to have to try a bottle of Captain's Choice Bay Rum and do a little experimenting with combinations.
Like I said...LOVE the moisturizing from the Ogallala (must be the witch hazel since I've never even seen a bottle of witch hazel), but love the smell and burn of Pinaud's Bay Rum.
Cheers guys!
