What's new

Two hones that are a little mistery for me.

Hello all.

Got these hones today, they were part of a big lot. I would like to know what kind of stones these are.

The slurry on the stones is made by rubbing it with wet sandpaper. The first looks a bit like a coti. The second one is really soft. Even has a wooden feel to it.

Thank you both. Then there are 3 coti's in my lot. But one isn't even woth the name. It's a coti of about 0,5 cm wide.

I think that after your visit to Vielsalm you will have plenty of rocks to test on. :D. It will be very tempting to only buy one. :D.
Just hoping the snow doesn't arrive tonight, I haven't got my winter tyres on yet! But hell, a bit of frozen water shouldn't stop me making it to see Maurice's cave.
might have to take the missus' Fiat 500, now that will be fun in the snow.

Well I just heard the weather forecast and they said that there could be 10cm of snow here in Limburg. But in the Ardennes I believe it has been snowing all week. So I hope you will get there safe. And should you be stranded there at night you might get to spend the night in the cave. :D.

0.5 is good width for big smiles if you do not know other than X stroke. You just need to drink huge pot of coffee as counting strokes will be like counting sheep when kids go to bed.
