Twin bladed DEs?

We're all familiar with two, three, four and now five bladed cartridges but has anyone ever seen two bladed DEs?

Back in 1982 when I was a national serviceman and about to go off to the operational area (the border we called it) we we're given parcels known as "dankie tannie" pakkies ("thank you auntie" parcels) by middle-aged ladies (hence the name) from a charity known as the Southern Cross Fund.

These were little zippered vinyl pouches containing things that would presumably make us more comfortable. I recall a writing pad, envelopes, pen, pocket knife, pack of cards and also a pack of DE razor blades. I'm pretty sure they were Wilkinson Sword or perhaps Schick, but definitely not Gillette. What was curious about them was that they had two blades fused together, with the upper one being a tiny bit narrower than the lower. I had never seen these before nor have I since.

It turned out lucky for me as I was the only one in my platoon that used a DE razor so everyone passed their blades on to me and I had a free supply of blades for many months, although they didn't exactly give the most comfortable of shaves with cold water, which was often all we had to shave with.

Thanks. Those were probably the blades I had back then. Quite interesting that we were given them but I never saw them on sale anywhere in this country.
