Egyptian Blade Sampler Pack

Here's a picture of an Egyptian blade sampler pack that I recently received. I tried some of the Lords, some of the Sharks, and the
Big Bens and liked them. So I thought I'd try some others. If you have experience in using any of these, please chime in with your opinions of them and I'll try to see how my experience with them compares. Right now, I'm using them as part of the SABREtember thread, snapping them in half to use in my shavette. I had two shaves with the Crown suiper stainless, which I'm finding a little bit raw, but seems to be mellowing with the second shave.

I have never tried the O.K. blades but I would guess they are O.K. I like the ASCOs. The Silver Stars are probably the best of them all. All of these blades are generally good to very good. The Lord Razor company began as a Wilkinson Sword factory. When Wilkinson decided to move all their manufacturing to Germany they sold their factory to Lord. You can see that heritage in the use of the Sword imagery.

Lord should explain what the advantages of each model are. Frankly they are all priced similarly and opinions are all over the place about the performance of Lord blades. The only consistent opinion is that the Silver Star receives good reviews from most every member here that has used it.

Myself, I like the Silver Star, Lord Cool, Shark Super Chrome, and Lord Super Chrome from that sampler. The ASCO, green Lord Classic, and Shark Super Stainless performed poorly for me.

I have liked the Cool and the Shark SC. I had one Lord SC that I liked and a tuck of them that wasn't as good.

I would include Blozano and Elios with the Lords.

I still need to try Racer and Crown.

And then I probably need to try another batch of each. I don't think they are very consistent.

My sense is that many of these blades are the same thing, only packaged differently.

I’ve tried them all but the OK’s. I see that Rainbow and Blue Sword were not included.

To me there are only three blades, whatever the name, the Chrome, Stainless and the Platinum. They’re very consistent across the range and I can’t honestly say one brand is better than the others. Silver Star has a lot of fans but I don’t perceive any difference.

I use Lord blades exclusively and have for years and I feel confident in my conclusions. They are great blades from a great company that makes great razors too.

I've not tried them all, but the Big Bens surprised me by giving a nice shave in my G37 slant. I also liked the Super Chrome and Silver Star blades pretty well. I might not be cool enough to try the Cools, though.

Somewhat shorter than average blade life on some of the Lord blades. No need to push it since they are usually very inexpensive.

Both Crowns & the Silver Star are good blades for me. Lots of Lords to try, enjoy!
If you want to try others before you buy, consider checking out the Great Blade Exchange. The link is in my signature at the bottom of this post.
