TV Specials, blade dspensers?

Which is the correct blade dispenser for a 1958 TV Special Super Speed? What about the 1954 TV Special Super Speed?

Thanks in advance for any answers .

I'm sure that a real expert will be along shortly, but seems to me both of those dates fall right in the middle of the Blue dispenser range

You have it right for the 58 TV Special. I have one NOS, and just to back it up, I checked Mr-Razor as well.

Learn something everyday. I had no idea there was a 54 tv special. Looking at the pictures on mr-razor's site, it looks like a regular SS. Was the 58 the only TV set to have a different handle for the razor itself? The 54 looks like a regular SS in a different case marked "TV".

The '54 TV was a re-introduction of a 40's style Super Speed. The 50's style was introduced early in 1954. The '54 TV was a basically a curtain call of the earlier great design. It was only made in the third and fourth quarters of 1954.

Okay, I just bought some of those blade dispensers (yellow/gold is all but worn off though, I wonder if I should reapply some paint to the raised areas? We'll see how they look when they get here).

Got this '58 D1 SS in a couple days ago, has what I guess to be the wrong dispenser (Seller's pic).

That being the case, does anyone know the correct set/date for the dispenser I have here? Trying to put together several accurate sets (yes, I've been buying cases and blade boxes lately, if I've bid against you I appologize-rest assured this too will slow soon ).

And thanks for the responses!

Are there no blades inside the Dispenser? It looks like my 1971 Super Blue Blade Dispenser.

Slip one of the blades out far enough to check the date code. That will give you the date of the dispenser.

Phil, 1954 was a crossover year from the '40's style to the flair tip Super Speeds. I have Z1 '40's razors but in the Z3 date code I have both a flair tip and the TV Special '40's style. Keep an eye out for the blue TV case with a '40's style. If you can verify it's a Z3 or Z4 you have a somewhat rare razor. There were not nearly as many made as the '58 TV Special. Most ebay sellers don't know what it is.

Thanks guys. I've never checked the blade date before, unsure how that's done (I presume patent number?). Where would I find the list? (Checked the Wiki and Mr-Razor.com, if it was there I missed it).

Achim, the one you show is indeed it. Wow you guys are good!

BTW, did you see (or buy?) the 1954 TV Special case the sold today on eBay? I bid (but not enough :frown:). It was mislabeled as a 1958 TV Special. No razor. Hope it went to a good home!

I didn't see the '54 TV case. But I really don't look for them. I've had both '54 and '58 TV Special sets for some time. They're on the top shelf of my collection.
