Turned my feather over..wish i hadn't

I had a bad shave this morning, bad bad bad. my neck looked like liver. I have been raking my brains as to why,,, did i rush, was my cream off, too little prep etc etc.

then i remembered that for some reason i turned my blade over and popped it back into my DE.
:w00t:

I wont do that again in a hurry.

Has anyone else found this?

Why on Earth would you turn your blade over? I am honestly curious, since I've not heard of this as a common practice.

There have been questions as to whether or not you can get more shaves out of a blade by turning it over. I think the consensus is pretty much no!

Scientifically, the answer is a definite NO!!

There is only one edge per side on a DE blade. Flipping the blade over accomplishes nothing, as you are still shaving with the exact same edge.

The only thing this accomplishes, is that you handle the blade more often then necessary, increasing your opportunity for cutting your hands.

I highly doubt the bad shave was caused by flipping the blade over; this should have zero impact on your shave quality.

I don't really know why i flipped it over... curiosity i guess!

I was a bit intrigued by the numbers 1 to 4 on other blades but i know this is a manufacturing thing. I actually changed it over after the previous shave, but i had only 2 shaves with a light beared on the blade.

Live and learn:biggrin1:

To be honest because i was so sore i paid silly money on 4 carts and it was actually quite good:blushing:

What do you mean by turning the blade over? I wasn't aware that the actual "razor" blade had to be oriented in a certain direction.... I just assumed it was dropped it in regardless of which side (head or tail) and you were good to go... am I wrong? Or did I read the OP's message incorrectly?

Nope you are not wrong, as I indicated above there are only two edges on a razor blade, so it's has no impact on the shave which side of the blade is "up".

Simply drop it into your razor, and shave with until the blade goes dull. :tongue_sm
