Trumper's Violet Soap

Have been planning to get a tube of Trumper's Violet Cream. However, I just "discovered" soaps and am wondering how Trumper's Violet Soap is. Found several reviews of Trumper's soaps in the review section, but no mention of the violet. How is it? How well does the scent hold up? How does it compare to other creams in regards the shave itself? Thanks for any input, John

Can't speak for the violet specifically (except for the smell which I love and the wife hates), but Trumpers other soaps lather like a dream, and give great slippery protection.

I was planning on getting this too (my first GFT soap). I've seen a lot of good feedback about it on the board whenever there's an inquiry on which Trumpers to get

I have the soap and a sample of the cream. The soap scent is muted compared to the cream. Still, although it's not as strong as its creamy cousin, it does smell nice and is a solid performer.

Right after I convinced myself to get the soap it seems the verdict is that the cream has the greater aroma; and I am after the aroma. Was thinking that maybe the opened soap sitting in the bathroom would give off the violet scent even without making a lather; and more after having made a lather! Decisions, decisions!!! Thanks for the input to date, John

most soaps will have more subtle scents than creams. for me, that is preferred...I can still smell the soap but it doesn't permeate everything! besides, for me soap offers other features, such as the fun/tradition of loading the brush, the longer duration, and the presentation in a nice wooden bowl.

The soap is pretty strong, at least once you get past the outer layer of soap (these don't appear to be fast movers so the outer part of the soap has sometimes lost some of the aroma after years in the warehouse). You can just work your way through it normally, or scrape off the top layer with a flat iron plane, mandolin or microplane.
