Nor disaster nor triumph.. coming to the end of my few months with the "Old fashioned shave cream" by T&D a relatively new company set up in New Zealand that use only natural ingredients.
Firstly the packaging of their products look impressive, check them out if you will. I love the nostalgic smells you get once popping the film cover on the lid and that still carries with you once you've had your shave. Notes of spearmint, marjoram and patchouli really open up with a light woody/earthy base and the consistency is almost spot on.
One thing I did notice was the lack of lubrication and protection that it provided and in this context I'm hinting at the likes of TOBS and Crabtree & Evelyn etc which offer this. I' m not shooting it down but I had to be a little careful with the water on the brush.
Now to the shave and once I got the lather up it wasn't great or really bad maybe a little in between and for a few occasions I let my beard grow for a few days before using this and in fair it struggled a bit to soften my beard and some of it started to dry out on my face while the blade was pulling (ouch). The glycerin in the ingredients helped with the after effect along with the spearmint for that tingling sensation.
Would I buy in future? maybe if it was on offer again.. I picked it up for £16.50 but if you want that old nostalgic fresh smell and something natural go for it.
Would like to see if anyone had any different views about it?
