Tried out a boar bristle brush

I was at a drugstore and saw that they had Omega Boar brushes and thought what the heck I'll try it out. I was under the assumption that they were scratchy on the face but was I wrong! It felt so soft when I was lathering up my face, not a hint of scritchyness. I can't wait to use it again.

Congrats.

if you're lucky you won't catch the local fever and buy more brushes to do what one can for many many years. Boars and Badgers do the same thing and while there might be a different feel its not a big deal and won't affect the shave at all.

Enjoy!

Which Omega did you get?
They are great brushes, have been using my 20102 daily for the last couple of years, fantastic brush!

Definitely be careful with those assumptions. There are a number of threads on the feel of boars -- especially after break-in. Don't overlook the existing discussions as resources as well. And don't judge things until you've actually tried them.

I laboured under the same misconception until I purchased a B&B Essentials boar brush from West Coast Shaving. Wow, what a surprise. I've been using a shaving brush for +45 years and never tried a boar until now. I have 9 badger brushes in my rotation and my B&B boar is a match for all of them.

I have Omega 20480 borar brush, Whipped dog 30 mm silvertip and EJ best badger brush, and I have to say that the Omega is the most versatile and very good value for money. I was really impressed with it.

I purchased what I think is numbered 10005, it says pura setola on the front and has a beech wood handle. It will definitely be one of my go to brushes from now on.

This one?
Omega make fantastic brushes, if you get the chance perhaps try one of the professional brushes, nice big brushes one can paint their entire face with, it is that big!

That would be the one. This one is definitely the first of at least a few boar brushes and I will tack on a professional brush with my next online order.

+2 on the Semogue vs Omega.

I own a couple of Simpsons badger brushes, but prefer my Semogue ones over them. Yeah, I'm weird like that.
