Tried Burt's Bees Shaving Cream?

Went to my corner green grocer to pick up some KMF, I had a $3 off coupon - woo- hoo
BUT...they were out. So I decided to pick up some Burt's Bees Shaving Cream (black tube)
since I like their other products - I thought, it must be good.

IMHO - this is a really poor product - thin lather, not smooth, no cushion,
I gave up mid-shave and switched over to my Proraso Green for the rest of the shave.

Anyone tried this stuff?:cursing:

The shave cream was a dud for me too. The orange oil facial wash and lip balm are an A+ for me, but the shave cream- blah!

I've used many brushless, latherless creams over the past 50 years, mostly tubes from Gillette. Compared to "Something Jack", another of the same kind (no relation to Jack Black -- does "Every Man Jack" sound like a company's name?), Burts Bees seems to work OK, nothing special, but not really awful, either. The other one was just way too greasy and messy in the wash basin. Lately, though, a Nivea shaving cream that's also brushless and latherless worked MANY TIMES better than other brushless creams I can recall (I'll try to look up the Nivea product's name to add it).

I was excited to pick it up, because I am a big fan of their other products. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that it was a latherless cream, so I grew frustrated trying to get some sort of creamy, pillowy goodness out of it. I PIF'ed it after one try with it, but I wish I had given it another try. I suspect I wouldn't have done any better the second time around, but I really loved the smell and would give it another go based on that alone.

I never purchased the cream because it was brushless but I did use the soap for a while. The bay rum scent was very nice but the soap was not a top performer. I think that I still have some unused rounds somewhere.

Regards,

Doug

I just received the BB black tube in a PIF and it was then that I realized it was a "brushless" cream. I hate that crap. I never know when to apply more or what. I go by what's in the scuttle and the brush. I'll give it a shot when I'm running late, though.

Their other products have always been top notch imho. The shaving cream, not so much.

+1

Bunch of good stuff... except this.

One of my local CVS stores has a full 18" of space on 4 shelves dedicated to BB... but they do not stock the shaving cream.
The lip balm is awesome.

I was also less than pleased with Dr Bronner's.
SWMBO is into his soap, so I decided to pick up a few more items. Again, lip balm is great, she likes the hair conditioner, but the shave gel left me with a sour taste.

First... it's brown. I did not shake the tube, so the first squirt was a gloppy mixture of clear liquid and globs of dark brown "stuff".
Shaking the tube takes care of that... but it's just not a good latherer and not a good protective layer. It's not even good with a cart, and I'll headshave with Irish Spring if that's the only thing around.

Glad I could contribute something to the B&B member
- think I'll go one step further (farther?) and PIF the rest of this Burts Beeswax

I will include "BRUSHLESS" in the title so no-one gets the wrong impression

You're not supposed to lather Burt's Bees shaving cream. You're just supposed to smear it around your face. Even used they way it's supposed to be it's still a terrible shaving product.

The BB Bay Rum soap - amazing scent, terrible shave. Relegated to shower duty.

The AS balms though (Bay Rum pump pack, tube balm) are IMHO rather effective.

I use Bee's herbal deodorant spray.. Only thing that don't irritate my underarms... But if someone here has other good ones let me know..
