What's new

Treet Platinum

I have been shaving using mainly Feathers, Derbys and red IP's. I have also tried green and yellow Gilettes. Except for the yellow pack Gilettes that I for some reason can't get a good shave from, I like them all.

However I must say that resently the Treet Platinums have become my blade of choice. Not as sharp as the Feathers (to me this is a good thing, Feather are too rough on my skin for everyday use), lasts longer than Derbys and they are super smooth! I ordered them just for the fun of it, and never expected to find such a good blade.

These blades have gotten quite good but few reviews. Is this because they are hard to get, or don't people like them as mutch as me? On my own account I would recommend to give the Treet Platinums a go.

I have the newer Derby's and they are horrible. I find that THEY WILL NICK even if your technique, lather is good !!!

Which green gillettes have your tried so far ? The Indian Permasharp greens and Super Platinum blacks are very good and smooth as well - especially the black ! (My Avatar pic)

Super max platinum and super stainless are also a pretty smooth. Cheap and good blades.

Treets are ok. I think they're not quite as sharp as other blades so I've not bought any outside the five-pack that was given me. In other words, for me personally, Treets don't do it. But everyone's face is different.

Glad you found a blade that works for you-

I've recently discovered this blade and I'm quite happy with their well rounded performance; smooth and sharp. Definitely, they are Treet's top tier stainless steel blade.

I just recently tried the Treet Black Beautys and have really enjoyed using them. I'll have to definitely try the platinums.

Treet Platinums are good, but certainly not as sharp as the Feathers, as you noted. Nor are they as sharp and smooth as the Gillette 7 O'clock SharpEdge blades, IMO. The yellow packaged SharpEdges are my blade of choice.

It's the Indian Permasharps and the yellow SharpEdge that I have tried. I will give the black Super Platiniums a try though. Always fun trying out a new blade.

I am beginning to think there is something wrong with the package of yellow Gilette SharpEdge I have opened. Too many people rate this as a top performer, me not getting a good shave can't be only the good old YMMV. I got a second package as well that I will try next time.

Aslo got a package of Iridiums that I havent opened yet. They are the next ones to be tested. Looking forward to that as I see a lot of the good people in here giving them the thumb up :001_smile.

Thank you for your inputs. Always nice making a post here and then get informed replies.

I received some as samples from a vendor who is banned from this site, though he had a great selection and good prices.

The Treet Platinum is a good middle-of-the-road blade, more than acceptably sharp, smooth, and with average lifespan.

They are, however, about like a Crystal (Israeli Personna), which is available for about 30% less.

The Treet blade I prefer is the DuraSharp Classic, in the yellow wrapper with red lettering. It's a bit sharper and noticeably smoother than the Platinum, and a bit cheaper than a Crystal, though it lasts about one shave less.

The DuraSharp Classic is a coated carbon steel blade, and carbon steel blades are a love 'em or hate 'em affair for most people. Fortunately they work for me.

Another vendor on your side of the Atlantic carries both Treets discussed here at good prices. Unfortunately he is banned from this site, despite his good service and prices.

As always with blades, YMMV.

Nice blade indeed i get 5 good shaves with it... Anybody tried the TRIG blade from Treet company? These Trig blades are quite cheaper than Treet Plats...

The Trig blades are fine but the Treet Platinum blades will shave a little better; slightly more sharp and smooth. Well, they do for me.

I buy most of my shaving supplies from an english vendor banned from this site. He delivers fast for a good price indeed. I dont't know the background for him being banned, but he offers good customer service.

I guess this is me turning out to be more biased than I like to think or admit, but the fact that the blades are made in Pakistan made me expect them to be to far from the quality of blades made in Russia, Japan, Israel or even India. This made me even more surprised in a positive way by how well they performed. I will most defenatly give the other Treets a try, thank you for the tip.

I too had this same bias, especially since I was a more avid straight razor shaver and Pakistani razors were not held in high regard. Well, the Treet Platinum blades proved to be very good and even the Treet Dura Sharp Stainless blade proved to be nice, worthy of daily use and even recommendation.

The other day I found a Pakistani grocery shop in Brussels (see my other topic with addresses in Brussels) where they got the classic Treet blades in the red pack. I'll give them a try soon. And the price was good: 1.50€/pack of ten blades.

The Trig blades are fine but the Treet Platinum blades will shave a little better; slightly more sharp and smooth. Well, they do for me.
Thanks for the reply, I'll definitely try them.
