Travel brush recommendations

I recommend you leave the brush at home. You can lather up any soap or cream with just your palm and fingers.

If you must take along a brush, don't get one that is calling itself a traveler. This is a good indication that it is overpriced and underpowered. Get a regular brush that you like, a suitable sized carrying case for it, and you'll be fine. Just don't take anything that is irreplaceable.

I got the omega travel brush because it was inexpensive (got mine on ebay for ~$14 shipped) compared to other travel brushes. Couldn't find anymore on ebay, but it's ~$10 (plus whatever shipping) here http://www.shoeboxshaveshop.com/omega-50014--turnback-travel-50014.html

It's a boar brush with a somewhat small knot (21mm i think?). Feels well made and the hair was good for me. Harder to lather than my badger brushes, but only a little. I easily made a good lather with arko (mashed into a old pomade container).

Getting a cheap boar and a container to keep it in would work equally well, but the size of the omega travel brush I linked is really convenient IMO.

I'm currently using the new Kent synthetic. It's quite small and cheap ($17) and dries quickly. It's a little smaller than I like, but it's doing the job and I don't worry about such a cheap brush.

I use one of my B&B essential boar brushes for travel. I place it in a mesh holder inside my briefcase. Works great!

I too would recommend a synthetic brush for travel, the main reason being that they dry out very quickly, which is great if you are moving from place to place.

+1

It took me a while to get used to the brush (and I think the brush broke in a bit over the course of a few shaves), but now it seems like an ideal travel brush. While I'd love to get the Da Vinci, I can't justify spending that kind of coin on something I rarely use and might ruin, or lose, before long.

Whatever you do, I would advise against the L'Occitane Synthetic Travel Brush... It will seem appealing for $30, but the Gen I nylon just is not up to par. Far better options available. JMHO.

Am currently on the road with my Simpson Berkeley. Using a drugstore pill tube for storage, you do not have to think much about smallness for a travel brush; can take about anything that will fit in the size of tube you get (depending on whether the tube will fit in your dop kit). I like my Berkeley for both home and travel use. Have not yet had a problem with drying. Leave the brush out on the sink counter while in the hotel; leave the dop kit top open when I pack stuff in the trunk for car travel; not closed up long enough to make much difference for air travel. I am currently of the opinion that getting a special brush for travel is unnecessary with the proviso that I would not wish to lose an expensive brush to a hotel maid or to a lost bag!
