Travel Aftershaves and TSA rules

I am flying next week and want to bring a few aftershaves but almost all are in 3 oz bottles or tubes. I went and bought the Castle Forbes travel size lavender to tide me over for a few days. Any suggestions or recommendations?

3.4 oz, or 100 ml is the limit. So a 3 oz bottle should be fine. You can take several, but all your liquids for carryon must fit in a one quart ziploc bag.

Thanks, I thought 3 oz was the most they would allow not realizing they allow 3.4oz lol. I would hate to have to throw anything out.

Is that rule even for checked baggage? I can't imagine that you'd only be able to have that little liquid in your checked baggage because people come back with booze from out of the country all the time.

No. That's the carrion rule only.
I don't think they let you take dead animals on the airplane with you!

Back to the OP:
For one, if you have a 5 ounce bottle that is visibly only half full, then you should be good (just an example). It is the volume of product, not the volume of the container that matters.

Also, all you really need to do it get some travel containers to put some aftershave in. I horde all the mouthwash containers that I get from hotels, as they are perfect for putting travel amounts of aftershave, witch hazel, or glycerine into. Some hotel shampoo or lotion containers work well too. Or just buy some travel containers. No need to take a few months worth of A/S with you on a week long trip, right?

As logical as that sounds, it's absolutely wrong. :thumbdown TSA regs specifically refer to the packaging size - you can have 1 drop left in a 3.4 ounce bottle and they'll make you throw it away.

Really? My stuff has made it through just fine in the past. I have a few half full 4 oz containers and never had a problem in a carry on.

**Edit**

You're right, I looked it up and it does say 3.4 oz container size. I guess I got lucky before. Thanks for the correction.

Be very careful with this logic. Two years ago, I flew from Brussels, Belgium to London, England. From there we stopped at Chicago and finally ended our trip at Dayton, OH. My carry-on was my camera bag, a backpack. In this pack, I accidentally had a pair of trauma shears, a Gerber multi-tool with knife, and two screwdrivers. I had forgotten to put these items in my check-in luggage. Somehow, I managed to get through Customs and Security in three separate countries. Just because I made it does not mean these items are acceptable. I am so thankful I got through. I felt so stupid when I got home.

I've flown with a full-size container of body wash in my carry on and neither Dulles or JFK said anything about it. This was a couple years ago.

Everyone is correct, that a nearly empty 10 oz. bottle won't (or shouldn't according to the rules) get through. Checked baggage, you can have a suitcase full of aftershave and it doesn't matter. It might get opened up when it goes through the x-ray (what the???), but doesn't break any rules.

Is a shame too because all those aftershaves get destroyed if you give them up at the checkpoint.

Im just taking a carry on. I hate checking bags.
