Trac II

Nice razor... definitely Trac II. The brass ones have a nice weight. I've seen identical ones marketed as Avon, Barbershop Old Fashion and Old Spice - with no markings it's hard to tell. Get some Personna carts though, and you're good to go.

Yeah a few Personna's and I figured I'd get a pack of the Trac II's at Wal Mart, too.
Thanks for the info!

Depending on your local WalMart's turnover, there may be no more of the Personna/ASR "Twin II" (Trac II clones) available, or only those with a lube strip. A few months back, all my local WalMarts decided to stop stocking the "Twin II" carts sans lube strip. Although I have not yet tried them, other members have reviewed the Family Dollar Atra/Trac II carts (they fit either system) well.

FWIW, I've used both "Strip" and "Non-Strip" Trac II's from Personna and I can't tell the strip is even there. It doesn't get all gooey like the Gillette ones. Walmart only has the TracII/Atra combos. Sorry but I like the Personna version much more than the Dollar General version. I don't think I've seen themat Family Dollar but I'll look.

There seem to be a lot of Trac II handles out there with similar designs. I have one of these. Very good quality, but no manufacturer's name on the box or the handle itself.

Definitely a Trac-2. The handle shape is endless. I have several, including the International silver models and my favorite is a brass/porcelain combo.

However, when the shift by Wallymart to the combo Trac-2/Atra blades, IMO the shaves have been horrible; more like pulling the hairs out than cutting them. Maybe a bad batch but definitely gave me pause before buying more.

I am retired military and hope that my next visit to a PX (several months away) they might still be carrying the older version. No $ General in town here.

I got a trac II handle today, made in India. The cartridges for this do not click into place correct? They slide on, and stay put? I noticed it took a bit of pressure to slide onto the handle, was wondering if thats normal.

That's normal, Trac II/GII carts don't click in place.
