TOP 10 FAVOURITE WAR FILMS

Lets leave aside Band of Brothers. Despite it's greatness, it is not a film, but a mini-series. So, with that caveat . . . which films make your top 10 list?

Zulu
Patton
The Longest Day
Full Metal Jacket
All Quiet on the Western Front
The Devil's Brigade
Hyena Road
Lawrence of Arabia
The Beast
Kelly's Heroes

Not a fan of the genre, but Zulu would make the cut, Patton, Bridge on the River Kwai, Heartbreak Ridge, and for a dose of silliness, MASH. Maybe Sgt York. Paths of Glory.

another great list thread! I'm not a big war movie fan, but there are some that I really have liked.
M*A*S*H
Paths of Glory
Come and See
The Seven Beauties
Stalag 17
Lawrence of Arabia
All Quiet on the Western Front
What Price Glory (the silent one)
Gallipoli
--would Manchurian Candidate count?

Also . . . thanks to all of you for reminders of some films I have forgotten. Funny story, my neighbour growing up had a Father who was an engineer in the aerospace industry. We were told that his response to the title of a certain naval film was always to ask, "Is that on tonight?". So, one summer night, as the gang of kids were sitting in the ditch wasting away the last of the summer daylight, this man comes home and decides to chat up the group of us. The subject of movies comes up and, little smart-*** that I am I mention something about the Bismark. Right on cue, he responds with, "Oh . . . is that on tonight?" and we all collapse in gales of laughter.

Funny the things you hold onto in the memory file.
