Tony Miller Strop- Fantastic

Got my Tony Miller strop in the mail today. I had gotten on the waitlist about a month ago and almost forgot I had this beauty coming soon. I just about pulled the trigger on another member's strop when I got the email from Tony that this would be shipped out this week. I have to say, I'm glad I waited, as this is really a beautiful piece. I got the 3" Steerhide strop with genuine linen second component with handles. This is really something that you can tell is well made and made with precision and pride in craftmanship. I took out one of my newly honed razors that Hillbilly had put a killer edge on. I had shaved with it yesterday and had really a nice shave. I didn't strop it yet, as I knew this was inbound.

When the razor goes back and forth, it sounds very nice. It seems to do a great job at what it's meant to do.

Here's the pics:

Got the same one and the training strop. Don't use the trainer much anymore but hot damn I love this one. The linen just screams refinement when I strop on it - nice and starchy!

Not only does Tony make strops that are just exactly perfect, he is a true class act. A gentleman in a field filled with shady characters.

There will come a day (and I hope it's a looooong way off) when these will no longer be available. I think everyone should have one.

Thanks for the review. I am in the market for a strop myself. Can anyone compare this one to the Whipped Dog rich man strop? Thanks.

I have three, a 2.5 Latigo barber end with linen, a 2.5 horse hide D-ring with linen, and a four sided diamond pasted paddle strop. All are excellant. Get one if you can.

I can't say enough good things about the quality of TM strops. I have two of his 3" strops with D rings - one with linen and one with green cotton. I also have a short 2" travel strop with linen and plain ends that I haven't seen on his website for a while. The craftsmanship on all three is superb. His premium steerhide has the lightest draw of any cowhide I've used. I wish he would make a horsehide strop.

What kind of horsehide were you thinking of? Tony used to make a brushed horsehide. Keep your eyes open on the BST. They sometimes come up for sale, albeit very rarely. I have a brushed horsehide and a "Notovan" in my stable that I will be buried with I think. My latigo will be in the casket too, come to think of it

Tony has been making strop for a while now, and he has made a great many strops with many different leathers in the past.
