Today's Haul

Picked this up from an antique store today. Looks like some sort of a Frankenrazor with a brown Bakelite head. The Bakelite portion looks like it has the Gillette emblem on it but raised up a bit. It's a Gillette but other than that I've no clue. Any thoughts?

Looks like a ball-end Old with a different cap. I have seen that raised star logo before, but the name escapes me.

+1....

Any numbers on the inside of the base plate? If not is a post 1920 old type razor (well most of it is anyway).

Someone posted a razor with that start on the cap not too long ago I too can't recall what it was called

So I used my frankenrazor today. Was struck by how light it is. I guess because of the Bakelite Cap. Put a Gillette silver blue blade in it and it did ok. Not the best shave but it's only been 12 hours since my last shave so maybe not the best judge. I'll use it again tomorrow after I get some stalks to chop. It is a tad aggressive but I managed to avoid any nicks. Been looking around to see what kind of cap this is and found nothing. Wish I knew because it makes it an interesting piece

That cap belongs to a Clix razor and the plate belongs to a Gillette Old Type. I have an unused one in white Bakelite. It's a very mild razor and I would need to use a shim to get a good shave. It sits on the shelf for display only.

Thanks a million. Now at least I know what I'm workin with here. It's just the cap and everything else is a Gillette Old Type so it seems a bit more aggressive than it sounds like a pure bred Clix would be. Appreciate the help
