What's new

TOBS No. 74 Victorian Limes is here to stay!

Well, I had read a lot about the Victorian Limes here and I like the T&H West Indian Limes but it only lasts on me for about 3-4 hours if I do a prep with lotion on the area where cologne is to be applied. It's great and I'll eventually order the shaving cream, ASB, and the cologne (probably later this month) from T&H as I like the West Indian Limes so much.

The TOBS scent was ordered from West Coast Shaving about 3 or so weeks ago (it was back ordered, alas, and I had to wait a while. John and Christine were super apologetic, friendly, and understanding since I was a bit nervous and anxious). I was trying it out since a lady I know loves it when I wear citrus colognes and she liked the West Indian Limes but it lacks staying power for me to use on without such prepping. It arrived yesterday, just in time for me to use it before meeting with my friend today. TOBS has a great product in No. 74 Victorian Limes, it has that nice strong lime scent going on and it does fade but doesn't go away. Then a softer lime scent lingers and there are some nice floral notes (someone in a review mentioned fuschia, which is nice). Does anyone know which other scents can be discerned? It's slightly sweet and floral with that lime but I can't figure out what exactly I'm smelling other than that it is splendid.

I wore it today on my date with my aforementioned lady friend and she commented on the new scent and how it trumped my last lime cologne (though she does like both). I'm glad my cologne came in time and this is hugely due to WCS and their great customer service (they were very patient with my anxiousness). I definitely will keep a bottle of this in my collection and I know I will buy it and any other TOBS product from WCS from now on.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Penhaligon's Lime, but it is so expensive (about $110 a bottle), so this Taylor's may be the ticket to Lime Heaven with the price. Thanks!

Thank you for the review and anecdote, Michael.

I have really enjoyed every TOBS product I have tried. I look forward to trying the Victorians Limes. :thumbup1:

I like the TOBS No. 74 Victorian Lime so much that I kind of want to buy the aftershave now, so hopefully it works out for you guys. I've not tried the Penhaligon Lime so I don't know if they're in the same league.

I have used the T&H West Indian Lime and while I liked it, I feel the TOBS product has greater longevity (easily lasted me about 7 hours or so with a dab on each wrist and on a tiny dab on my neck) and I can't complain about the price ($28.00 plus shipping from WCS for about $33 something in total for 100ml of product). It mellowed out very nicely as the day passed. It really worked well and my friend really enjoyed it. It was 'yummy' in her words and that's enough for me to keep using it.

Nice choice on the TOBS #74 Victorian Limes. I have both the aftershave and cologne, and the staying power is about the best I have found for a lime scent.

Yep. One of my favorites as well. Another lime scent that gets no love is Caswell-Massey Limes. It's a fairly single note scent but does last longer than T&H West Indian Limes.

hey for you guys who actually own this, is the scent a straight lime scent or is there a musk aspect to it aswell?

I get mostly lime from the TOBS with a hint of floral but not much else and that's why I like it.

I'm not super keen on musky colognes so they have to be really good for me to enjoy them so I may be biased for the TOBS scent.
