Tobacco Vanille and Noir de Noir

Hi!

I know that these two fragrances are completely different from each other.

Unfortunately, I have not tried them both yet and I don´t have the opportunity to test them both (sampling).

I am from Germany and it is impossible to get them anywere in my area. I have to drive to Holland or 6 hours to buy them.

So, I decided to buy blind one of them
Because they are expensive, I want to have only one of them.

Noir de Noir seems to be sexy with dark rose and chocolate.
Tobacco Vanille also seems to smell very tasteful and delicious with Vanilla.

I really like these types of scents.

Could you help me by rationalising the blind buy (which of them)??

For me, it is very important that the scent has a great longevity, projection and I exactly wear a scent for special and intimate occasions.

Thank you.

Of course I may be off track (as usual) but I don't think that a great projection is something that is always appreciated in an 'intimate occasion' environment.

I've tried both in the perfume store. TV is very near to its description on the internet, NdN is miles away IMO. Both have great longevity though.
Try with samples first if you have the chance. That's the safest way.

Tough call. Both are great scents and I have owned both. Great longevity/projection is going to be pretty standard across Tom Ford Private Blends with very few exceptions. Nuclear longevity. NdN is more formal of the two. For intimacy, I'd think your partner should probably have a say in the vote. ;-)

I hate blind buys of pricey stuff. TV is probably the safest if you must. But it's always hard to say if you are looking to use with wife or girlfriend. Can you get patient enough to buy a small decantof each and see which lights her up?

Get some samples. There's got to be some denizen of the Crystal Flacon or one of the other sample sites who will have something like this. Put something on the BST too--you might find a member from here who has a bit that they'll share with you. That's what I would do before I bought a big bottle of Tom Ford.

sample first.

i really liked TV immediately but found NdN feminine smelling and just ok. But that was years ago might feel differently about it now.

Guenni, Schad has tried Noir de Noir more recently than me and I kind of remember it being more feminine too. The write ups on Noir de Noir have to be taken with a grain of salt, because many people only review a scent if they love it. From years here and at Basenotes, I know that Tobacco Vanille is among the most popular Tom Ford Private Collect with men. I don't see the same universal love for NdN. Rose and chocolate sounds food on paper, but in practice may not be what you expect.

LOL. I do love the feminine smelling masulines but NdN didn't do it for me. I did qualify my comment as I sampled it over a year ago. When i first sampled Black Orchid a yrar earlier I thought it too was too fem but now I really like it.

I tried NdN and it didn't last for literally or figuratively, I still have TV though

Have Tuscan leather and Oud Wood too, in fact Oud Wood and Jaipur are the only two where a female stranger complemented me to the point of saying "you smell magnificent" :001_wub:

Oud Wood is good stuff, though I'm a bit blind to it. It is evidently what Brad Pitt marinates himself with to woo Angelina...

Unfortunately, it's another of the scents when worn that evokes the ire of my boss.

My educated guess is that among the TF Private Collection, TV, TL and Oud Wood are the top three sellers to men.

Both TV and Noir de Noir are excellent scents. TV was my second choice behind NdN. I like NdN on more formal occasions. Didn't care for Oud Wood. Imo, both Creed and CD have better oud fragrances.
