Tobacco fragrance recommendations please

I am new to frags but a long time cigar smoker. I am looking for a tobacco fragrance that is more like a humidor filled with Partagas, not like a sweet pipe tobacco. I more concerned with finding the frag I like (and works for me) rather than the price so feel free to recommend across all price ranges but I hope it is something I can find (and ship to Korea since the selection here is small and over priced).

Thank you in advance.

You might want to try Creed Tabarome. A very under-rated tobacco-based fragrance with wonderful woody base notes :)

I will have to order a sample I like GIT and Vetiver from Creed.

Yep, the dry-down has similarities to GIT and Millesime Imperial - could well be the Sandalwood/Ambergris base that you get in most Creeds. Very nice and delicate tobacco though.

Thanks now my interest is piqued.

I think that the current Creed Tabarome isn't bad--it gets a lot of bad reviews because it isn't the same as the vintage version. If this is your first exposure to Tabarome, you'll probably like it. O think Creed did a good job of crafting something that evokes the old juice but is something different. On the other hand, it's worth it to keep your eye out for a decant of Vintage Tabarome. It's really an amazing fragrance.

I haven't tried the vintage, although I know people rave about it. It can be hard to come by and isn't easy to sample unless you're going to buy a decant, usually from outside the country.

I think you're right about liking 'regular' Tabarome if it's the only one you've tried. I liked it as it was mild and not an "in your face" tobacco scent like Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille is.

+1 I also think that Creed Tabarome Millesime is under rated. It's one of my favorites and I also enjoy it more than Tom Ford TV. Creed TM does not have that sweet, in your face vanilla or cherry note.

I agree with you on this, Ben. Somehow I've taken a dislike to vanilla in fragrances. Maybe with the exception of Aventus were there is very little in there. My first Creed was Original Vetiver which is also laced with vanilla. I can't seem to stand it now, so I don't know what's come over me. Maybe my nose is maturing!!

I agree about both Tabarome Millesime, which may be the most underrated Creed in my opinion, and the Tom Ford. I don't want to smell like vanilla or cherry pipe tobacco.

Others to consider are Santa Maria Novella Toscano, the highly-polarizing Czech & Speake Cuba, and Serge Lutens Fumerie Turque. Some say FT smells like cherry pipe tobacco, but I do not agree. While it's definitely not a humidor/cigar scent, it's interesting and you may still like it.

i get a very subtle tobacco note from l'occitane vetyver. it's a very respectable fragrance and you won't need to take out a second mortgage to afford it.

I own one cologne with tobacco in it, and it's my favorite scent: Polo Romance Silver. It's a great scent, the drydown is what got me hooked into it. Only problem is I think they have discontinued it. You might be able to find some on ebay though and maybe have it shipped to Korea.

Odori Tobacco is my favorite.
Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille is good.
Santa Maria Novella makes a very raw golden tobacco called Acqua di Cuba that is fantastic.
Profumo.it also makes a very smoky tobacco called Tabac.

Not wanting a sweet pipe tobacco scent takes a large number of the better tobacco frags out of the equation, but there are still some good ones left:

Santa Maria Novella Acqua di Cuba
The highly-polarizing Czech & Speake Cuba

Most of the rest of the better tobacco frags are going to venture into the pipe tobacco realm.
I agree that Tabarome Millesime is very underrated, but I wouldn't put the "cigar in a humidor" association with it. It is a great scent. I wouldn't go chasing down the vintage version which is more cigar-like in nature as it's amazing juice and you'll have to auction off a kidney to purchase a bottle if you can even find one.

Thank you to everyone. I have learned allot and I will order my samples this weekend. I already have the Tom Ford sample but it is to sweet cherry at first but the dry down is nice. I also have a sample SMN and will give it a try this weekend. I fill allot more informed now and just need to order the frags to test.

These are the two that I was going to suggest as well. Acqua di Cuba is a great, tobacco forward frag. Cuba is different - to me it's appropriately the bastard child of Spanish Leather and Bay Rum. Boozy lime open that settles in to a rich, spicy scent at the base. There's an earthy component that lots of people read as fecal - it struck me that way at first too. For me the strongly fecal note burned off quickly enough that I sprung for a bottle anyway. Then someone mentioned that the 'fecal' note was really a fermented tobacco note. Revisiting the scent I agree - and it mellows into a nice cigar tobacco note that holds the fragrance together. One of the few scents where I've received an unsolicited compliment from a stranger too.

SMN make great fragrances. I don't recall testing that one, but I would sure guess it's a quality juice.

The C&S I am not so fond of and have tried it multiple times. There is something in it that I and many people around me have found nauseating. Don't get me wrong, C&S make some great fragrances with high quality ingredients, but Cuba is not one of them. I am a fan of their Neroli and have worn No.88 in the past.

Never ever ever blind buy C&S Cuba. I laughed at the thought of the "fecal scent" until it hit me. Trust me, it's real!! :scared:

BTW, I'm a huge fan of C&S 88.
