What's new

To many products in my rotation

I have just recently modified my rotation of soaps and creams drastically. I have a military background, (I only mention this because a rotation in the my book means everything has an assigned order and there is no going out of turn) with 18 products in my rotation it meant my favorites were not getting enough face time, once every 2 1/2 weeks:mad3:. So I started cutting. All creams, ( only 7) got looked at first. 3 made the cut..half must be shelfed. That leaves 4 spots for soaps and thats going to be tougher but non the less with enough soul searching doable. Today I'm beginning a new rotation, (with alot more counter space) and am looking forward to using my favorites more often.

Anyone else ever do this??? Its my shave den so I guess its ok but what about all the other loyal soaps and creams that won't be seeing the brush anymore.

Heres my first string:

AOS Sandalwood
Cella
Irish Moos
L'occitane
Valobra
CF Lavender, (cream)
TOB Avocado, (cream

Ok it now becomes appearant not enough planning has gone into this, back to the drawing board but you get the idea.

Personally, I don't have enough products in my rotation (yet) to have your problem. However, it seems like a sensible solution. Possible option if you're going to miss some favourites...make up a couple of line ups by season?

could you work a system where your favourites are on a small 3 day rotation, and other ones you still like rotate through the next 4 days.

so you have two rotations, rotating at different speeds, each week

When it comes to which I'm going to use I usually only make up my mind a couple of minutes before I shave. I have very little sponteneity in my life so I try not to make assignments to my shaving soaps.

Usually have 1 soap in use, 1 local easily bought cream in use and 1 cream i bought from the net or somewhere that i cant get locally and as i shave on general 6 times a week i canuse them twice which works for me, as for raxors i usually rotate every 3 or 4 weeks as anything less seems to short for me and i have to learn the razor all over again.

I have about ten creams, but some of them I don't use very often at all. I'm more spontaneous in my selection, but want to come up with some kind of loose routine in the future. I still have a lot of samples to work on at the moment as well, so it'll be a while before I'm settled down.

My shelf of products still has some space, but now I am getting into the habit of shaving with Tabac soap (my only soap) on Saturday mornings and using one of my best creams for a relaxed "Sunday shave". The rest of the week doesn't bother me too much

I am about to do this as well. In part, it is to use things up (I don't want a Wilkinsons Shave stick slowly shrinking for 5 years). I will probably have a core of things that get used, and rotate favorites in and out.

I don't have that problem.

I look at the stuff I have and say "I think I'll use xxxx today."
My favorites seem to be chosen more frequently than non-favorites, and I don't have to worry about getting bored with a smaller selection.

I'm like Phil.

My shave den is like a harem that I choose from at my whim. It's not an assembly line that demands service in sequence.

I'm currently going through a culling process. I've got too damn much stuff. Got more PIFs and sales planned in the near future.

I've seen your SotD pics. Don't be afraid to give a fellow Alabamian a shout when you're ready to start thinning the herd.

I know it was a typo, but since you used 'to' instead of 'too' in your topic title it sounds more like a toast than a complaint.
